Improvement over "old" model

I was determined to replace the older Eureka Lightweight when our old one expired after many years of use. This new one is so easy to use, empty, clean,etc. I have the mechanical skills of a squirrel and this Eureka 431 DX was a cinch to put together. The dust cup is so easy to remove compared to the earlier modelwe had. It vacuums great.

The only problem I have with this machine is the filter. It's a nightmare!!!! Dust/dirt/dog hair clog it up rapidly and it is very hard to clean. Instructions for cleaning do not work. MUST be brushed out. If possible I would remove it since I don't believe it does any good anyway!!!!
