Choosing the Right Size of Trash Can
The kitchen trash can is likely the main source of trash in your home. It sees a lot of action and should naturally be the largest. Unless you have a basement area with either a kitchen for entertaining or some sort of craft area, the kitchen can will be the largest. Large trash cans elsewhere in the house lead to lots of problems that can be dealt with merely by exercising the discipline of taking the trash out regularly.
Some people prefer to just use saved plastic grocery bags and hinge them on the inside of a kitchen cabinet. Practical enough, but this often ends up in a really filthy interior after months of trash being thrown in, occasionally missing.
Auxiliary Trash Cans for the Office, Bedroom, and Bath
These should almost always be of the size that fits a typical grocery store plastic bag. If you use cloth bags at the grocers, good for you, but you'll still need to buy something to line smaller trash cans, making trash removal easy and sanitary. And though you may hate walking through the house and collecting the garbage on a regular basis, we're afraid you have to. Bathroom and bedroom trash laying around too long presents a germ and health risk that should be avoided.
