Back in 1946, Henry Melzer, a WWII veteran who bought and sold houseware products, had a gift for picking up languages. He utilized his multi-lingual skills to communicate with buyers around the world in an effort to find distinct products to bring back to the U.S. In 1971, Henry's son Steven joined his father in distributing their products to domestic retailers, and in 1985, they changed the structure of their company by focusing on Italian-made imports and Epoca emerged. Eventually, Steven acknowledged the growing home-brewed coffee trend in North America, and he began selling espresso makers under the Primula brand. In 2005, Steven' son Brian joined the Epoca team with a goal of increasing Primula's product selection. He succeeded, and today Epoca is known for carrying reliable brands such as Ecolution, Primula Teas, Primula, Easy Exotic, and Laroma, and for offering top-quality items including cookware, teaware, coffeeware, glassware, and gourmet food.
