wind no problem
By Tommy from RIVERTON,UT on 7/23/2014
Living near Herriman UT, on the foothills of a mountain chain, wind has been a real problem. This is the third Coolaroo, two like this and an 11 ft square. They have held up to the wind and allow us to enjoy the backyard avoiding the summer desert sun.
Great set
By Debbie from Jackson, nj on 7/23/2014
We bought this set last year. It was easy to put together. We used Teak oil right away, but it did not stand up to our rough winter. However we redid the oil this spring and it looks beautiful. We have had many compliments on it and our children are fighting to have it included in our will ( ha ha ). It is so sturdy I believe it will be around then.
Looks good!!!!!

Commercial Pool Furniture: The Basics

Businesses such as water parks, community pools, hotels, resorts & other club types require heavy-duty pool furniture that will endure the rigors of prolonged use.

Commercial pool furniture design uses non-corrosive materials like heavy-duty aluminum and plastic resin to withstand constant exposure to sun, wind, rain, inclement weather, and abuse from rowdy pool-goers. Standard pool furniture, on the other hand, is often made with steel components, which rust quickly, especially when exposed to the elements.

Frame Materials: Your Best Bets

Plastic Resin

Prime plastic resin isn't fazed by salty air and lasts for decades— perfect for oceanside resorts or those who reside near saltwater bodies of any kind. And because it's recyclable, its use comes with a clear conscience.

Plastic Coated Aluminum

Frames of plastic-coated aluminum are guaranteed to maintain their integrity through five years of use under the most extreme high-exposure circumstances, even longer in most cases.

Materials Make the Furniture

Below, other non-corrosive materials commonly found in commercial pool furniture:

  • Heavy-duty aluminum
  • Recycled plastic
  • Resin wicker
  • Vinyl (double strapped)
  • Sling fabrics
  • Wrought iron
  • Natural hardwoods (teak, cedar)

Color Concerns

Though it may seem counterintuitive to use dark furniture on a pool deck, in commercial settings, it's alogical choice. Dark-hued vinyl, plastic, and aluminum are preferable because dark hues heat up quickly, causing pool patrons to lie atop towels, not your furniture. This will extend lounger life a few more seasons. If you want to avoid stains, however, opt for pastel tones, which don't show cosmetic wear as readily.

Tips for a Clean Collection

  • Use white vinegar and warm water to wash—do not use bleach
  • Apply using a soft cloth or mild abrasive (for stubborn stains)
  • Use paste wax periodically for optimum longevity
  • Clean vinyl components regularly as it's pores can clog, causing mildew
  • Inspect all hardware for signs of corrosion—replace if necessary
