Comments about The Ergo Office Wood Bookcase:

I was so disappointed when I received the bookcase. For the price which was expensive it was not assembled and the quality of the product was poor. I could have picked up something from [@] for a 1/3 of the price and would have been better quality. It is a cheep product and the company charges you a fortune for it. Do not buy this bookcase.

I have shopped around for commercial grade bookcases in a nice wood for a long time and I finally settled on this bookcase and I am very glad that I took my time to investigate. The bookcase is well build and looks fantastic.

Comments about The Ergo Office Wood Bookcase:

I have been collecting books for longer than I care to state, and have assembled more than 50 bookcases of varying sizes and design from more than a dozen different manufacturers. This bookcase should be easy to assemble, but its unusual design and incomprehensible "instructions" make it a labor instead. The instructions contain NO WORDS - just imprecise pictures. The most unusual assembly feature is the back. Anywone who has put together a bookcase knows that the back is the most crucial single piece in the assembly. The back ensures that the unit is assembled with right angles and maintains that stable configuration under stress. With every other bookcase I have built, the back was added after the 4 major components (sides, top, and bottom) had been assembled. Reasonable instructions would have alerted the owner to this departure from standard procedures, particularly because the conformation makes it impossible to add the back after the 4 major components have been assembled. Instead, the back is simply shown in one of the pictures with no instructions. The assembly of the two fixed shelves is also poorly illustrated. Since the back is nailed to the fixed shelves, their proper installation is important. Finally, the bookcase uses a few plastic holders (instead of the usual 40 or so screws to keep the back in place. I am still not sure exactly how these should have been installed, because the drawing in the instructions has no detail. I assume I did not do it correctly, because the screws for several of the holders came through the wood. After I finished assembling the product, I was so skeptical of its strength and stability that I installed 16 2 inch corner braces and 8 1 inch corrner braces to make sure it would not collapse under the weight of my books.

Comments about The Ergo Office Wood Bookcase:

Just received my new bookcase 72" high and everything went as planned. My only comment is that there was no assembly instructions, however I figured out how to assembly it without. On the positive side it's very well made, the shelves are thick and will hold all my law books.

I ordered 3 of these for my office and they are very well made. Assembly only took 10 minuttes for each bookcase and was easy. The wood is very nice and matches the rest of my office. I can only recommend these.
