These binoculars work as advertised. They are better suited to terrestrial views rather than astronomy, mainly due to the narrow field-of-view. The FOV starts out narrow and shrinks dramatically with zoom. This makes astronomical viewing far less aesthetic than with my "monster" fixed binoculars.

At higher zoom, the eyepiece separation must be carefully set. They stay mostly in focus as you zoom in and out, which is an important convenience. Some may find these things hard to use to best advantage due to the narrow FOV. However, you can see amazing detail with them: I could see sheet metal screw heads on a new stove pipe installation at my neighbor's 1/4 mile away. When I checked out recent slope slippage mud flow from recent rains at a neighbor's across the valley, the detail didn't get any better by taking a 10 minute walk over there.

One way or another I frequently use these things, and they're fun within their limitations. Some persons may find them hard to use to full advantage due to the narrow FOV, and the weight could also be an issue. You can see Saturn and nice detail on the Moon, but the experience is more enjoyable with a wider FOV.

Sadly these zoom binoculars are unusable at 125x magnification, with a small field of view and the image not focusing, they could only be used at the lower setting of 25x. While the binoculars only get 2 stars, I give binoculars.com top marks for service and support.

I returned the binoculars without any problems. My advise, stick to a fixed magnification binocular. Thanks binoculars.com

On 125x, on my old Slick tripod,I had no problem seeing holes at 300yd in 15-20 mph wind..that's significant..at 600 yd. was to much shake/ jitter...probably OK if no wind... Whenever that might be here in TX

Comments about Barska 25-125x80mm Gladiator Zoom Binoculars:

Living on a mountaintop, I can view for almost 100 miles in all directions with this model now! Until now I used a lower power pair of zoom binocs plus a terresterial telescope so I was familiar with pro's and con's of each technology. I researched this next step purchase with care and decided on this Barska combination for optimum flexibility and viewing quality. One must understand to readjust focus as the zoom range is changed but that's normal with this type of instrument. A multi-plane adjustible tripod like that for a telescope is a must due to lens focal length and weight! One added benefit has been that it performs well from inside, "through a window"! So I have no purchase regrets as this 25-125 Zoom model performs Great.

These binoculars are large and a little heavy but that is offset by the quality of the focus.
