As fountains get older, they have to be scrubbed by hand on a weekly basis ..! Not only does this become exhausting and tedious, but after a while you begin to scrape-off the fountain's paint while trying to get to the hard moss that slowly takes a hold on the basins.
That's why this particular Pond Protector was a godsend for me; the moss is cut by 90 percent. What is usually a weekly to bi-weekly manual scrubbing of cold water, becomes a weekly squirt from your bottle - and only a monthly visit to your fountain (perhaps every 3 weeks during the summer time).
Something else that was very important to me, was how this particular brand isn't harmful to animals. This is a must for any fountain owner unless you want poisoned animals around your home.. I wonder why it isn't law for all pond protectors to be safe for animals?!
In any case, if you start this Protecant on a NEW fountain then the spores from moss won't have the chance to get a hold on the basins and the time in between manual cleanings will be even longer.
So that's it! This product has been a savior to my mom - and to me.. Neither one of us have to dread the pond's existence anymore.

The birds love the bath, and we love watching them. This helps keep it clean and I only need to clean the bird bath every few days. It's safe too.

After draining and flushing my water feature several times I re-filled it with clean water and added this product per the instructions on the bottle. In less than a week I had green slime everywhere the water touched!
