Each one is covered in high-impact ABS plastic to prevent rusting. The metal comfort springs are pretty much the best porch swing accessory ever. Each one has a 600-lb. weight capacity and they're super shock absorbers. They give your swing a little extra bounce.

About Shorea Wood and Linseed Oil
Shorea is possibly the best wood choice for outdoor furniture. Related to Burma teak, this hardwood grows naturally and plentifully in the Pacific Rim countries. Because shorea is dense, heavy, and hard, and contains an abundance of natural oils, it is highly resistant to rot, bug infestation, weather, and marring. Shorea (red lauan) wood will have variations is color - from a red to a yellow cast.
The Shorea wood for this item is treated with linseed oil. Linseed oil is not a varnish. The oil soaks into the pores of the wood leaving a shiny (not glossy) surface that shows off the grain of the wood. Linseed oil helps protects the wood from denting by compression and from accelerated deterioration.

This is a wonderful swing. I have been looking for a porch swing for our front porch for a while and I am VERY happy with this swing. The quality is great, the design is simple and beautiful. I was little concerned with the color difference between the frame and back slats but the one we received had a very consistent color throughout. Instead of using the hanging kit, we used a couple of heavy duty eye bolts (300 lbs each). Chains were a little short but we added a pair of swing springs from and that solved the problem.

Less than 30 minutes to put together. Was a little dusty from sanding (their sanding), so it needed a light cleaning prior to use. Not suited for uncovered use without a protective coating of polyurethane or linseed oil, but will work great as is in a protected area such as a covered porch.
