Open the pink wood lid to reveal a large open storage area on top, as well as a mirror inside the lid. When opened, this box plays "Waltz of the Flowers." On the front are two slim storage drawers perfect for keepsakes.
About Mele
Emidio Mele, an Italian immigrant to the United States, came to New York City in 1896 and learned to make jewelry boxes as an apprentice before founding Mele Manufacturing in 1912. He began by designing and building elegant displays for jewelry store windows. His jewelry box making business grew throughout the 1900s, responding to demands for boxes to hold Purple Hearts during WWII and developing as a popular household name for quality jewelry boxes. Today Mele Jewelry Box is known as the Mele Companies, which encompass various divisions under the Mele name. Now based in Utica, N.Y., Mele still upholds the family atmosphere on which it was founded and remains America's foremost name in jewelry cases.

My 5-yr. old grandaughter loved it! She's shown it to all her friends and schoolmates, neighbors and relatives. And she spends a lot of time just looking at the dancing ballerina and touching the "velvety" lining--lost in her own private fantasy.
I only wish it were painted versus covered in paper. This is a keepsake that I would like to last for several generations.

I bought this jewelry box for my 3 year old grand daughter. I was very excited to get a Mele at such a reasonable price. The problem with the box was the paper overlay. It was not put on correctly and resulted in two large bubbles on the front of the box. I really liked the box because of the sturdy construction that could stand up to a 3 year old, the music was very nice, (sound wise, etc.). The knob to turn the music is easy enough for a 3 year old to turn. I loved the overall appearance, music and size but the damage to the overlay was very disappointiing. Since I was giving this as a birthday present, I did not have time to return it and don't feel I would have neccesarily gotten one without this small defect. I also kept it since it was going to a 3 year old and I don't think she will notice the bubbles. I hope her mother, my daughter in law doesn't notice it. Don't know if I would recommend this product because of the overlay damage and the fact that it wasn't perfect quality. [...]

I wanted my granddaughter to have the perfect, classic ballerina jewelry box. You can find cheaply made ones, but this is a beautiful one that will last a very long time. She will always remember it. It will be under the Christmas tree for her, and she will be thrilled.

Bought 2 of these for 12 yr old twin girls. Very happy with the quality and design. A girl is never too old for a twirling ballerina! I did buy a piece of pink tulle and added it to the tutus. Just my little touch.
