I wanted something that would store my sewing machine in a guest room, but would also provide easy access to my machine and look nice. I also wanted something that would store some of the things (if not all) that I keep in my sewing basket. This has great storage space! It was easy for my husband and I to assemble. It took about 2 1/2 hours and was WELL worth it! I was a little diappointed in how the insert fit. The insert itself is about 1/8 inch above the table surface and there are spaces around it in which pins can fall. I plan to put a piece of magnet (like you can find for tool boxes) on the platform to hopefully catch any needles that fall. We also replaced the brass hardware with bronze/wrought iron. It looks great. This is the cheapest cabinet I found with the storage space and air lift. Look no further just buy!!

It does have an ease of use that is nice. It is also compact, which is great. Unfortunately, I don't see [$] worth of construction. The laminate is already peeling (I've had it a week!), the drawers do not glide very well, one of them doesn't hardly work at all. The hardware is very cheap as well. If I had paid maybe $200.00 I wouldn't be writing this. I do feel a little shorted on quality for what I paid. I would definitely tell a friend to look around before purchasing this cabinet.

lOVE THIS CABINET, but WISH THAT IT WOULD HAVE COME WITH THE PLASTIC LINER FOR AROUND THE SEWING MACHINE, AND WOULD NOT HAVE TO ORDER, AND WAIT FOR THREE OR FOUR WEEKS FOR IN TO BE DELIVERED. WOULD HAVE RATHERD THAT EVERYTHING WOULD HAVE COME TOGETHER AND PAYED THE EXTRA COST.

Comments about Arrow Marilyn Sewing Cabinet:
The cabinet went together well, I didn't end up with missing or spare parts. It took a while to put together, but except for a couple of spots where it said 'with assistant' I did it all myself. The directions do not tell you what equipment you need--you will want a screwdriver with large and small phillips bits, two ten millimeter or adjustable wrenches, a hammer. I also used a power screwdriver set very low so it would stop without stripping out screws. There are a ton of screws. A tip: Don't open the little bags until you get to the step in the instructions where you need them. Use the top tray to hold the small parts while you assemble. The instructions for where to put the cam bolts (the long skinny bits) was a little difficult to understand, I had a few of them in the wrong spots at first, but that was not a disaster. The instructions for the casters was confusing--put the bracket on, then smack in the insert thing, then smack in the caster itself--that's much easier than any of the alternatives. Also, go slow and be careful, and don't screw anything too tightly until you get the feel of the parts involved. This is particle board, so it will strip out quite easily.
For my basic Kenmore, the original adjustment on the flush position is really close to what it needs to be. I may leave it, since the adjustment requires two people. I did not get the custom insert because I believe we can make one out of bits and pieces we have in the garage. If you don't have pieces laying around, you might want it as the opening is quite large.
I have used this cabinet for a little sewing since I put it together. I am working on a quilt and I used it for piecing. I am pleased with how sturdy the platform is, and the lift is very heavy and sturdy. It requires some muscle to operate the lift, but that's OK with me.
The door trays fit all my thread and a few other things besides. The drawers are a little stiff at the moment, but I may adjust on them a bit to see if I can loosen them up some, or maybe soap them a bit. The drawer boxes are plastic, which doesn't really impress me, but they're small so they're not really intended to hold a lot.
I would have preferred to have another of the little rubber pads for the top of the door, since it's performing a little bit of a support function when it's open and under the left hand leaf. Not sure if it would close properly with one installed, though.
I bought the cherry finish, and am reasonably pleased with the look. It's not solid wood and you wouldn't confuse it for solid wood, but it's decent looking.
I did notice that when pinning my quilt, the pins will penetrate the laminate top (the beige part). This is not melamine, it is plastic laminate. So I call it a learning experience. Rubbing the little spot back down seems to work.
I think for a compact, inexpensive sewing cabinet this will do very well. It doesn't have a ton of storage, but it does help. The tray in the top is a really great touch, I like having a spot for scissors, pins, needle threaders, needles, machine feet, and the like right there.
I have had this cabinet for a few days, and so far so good. I am pleased with my purchase at this point.
Service and delivery comments:
The delivery was extra fast, very happy with that. The boxes arrived with a small amount of damage, but the packing was so good there was no damage to parts.
The glue on one of the boxes failed, and it arrived open at one end, but there were no parts missing.
I did not require customer service for this order.
