Comments about Athena Solar-On-Demand Ceramic Bird Bath Fountain:

This is the most beautiful bird bath, but it was not made to hold up to being outdoors. It is cheap plaster that the glaze chips off from easily, even without freezing weather. With even a slight freeze, it will crack apart.

VERY poor construction!!!!

Comments about Athena Solar-On-Demand Ceramic Bird Bath Fountain:

We are very happy with our fountain. You need good sun exposure to have the fountain work, but we expected that. We have the fountain in a northern exposure, but it seems to work fine. We only turn it on once in a while. The birds seem very happy to have a place to drink and we often see them sitting on the edge. We don't get any bathers, but that's probably more to do with the type of birds that come to our yard. Ours did come apart, but the seller quickly sent us a replacement and we were happy with the service and the product.

Comments about Athena Solar-On-Demand Ceramic Bird Bath Fountain:

I was just LOVING this beautiful bird bath as a highlight in my private peace park...UNTIL this afternoon! As I was cleaning the bowl, it came COMPLETELY separated from the portion that fits into the base! SHOOT!!! I have cemented it back together (doesn't look real great) and hope that it will continue to work through our lovely sun-filled summer days. POOR WORKMANSHIP IN PUTTING PARTS TOGETHER!! SUCH A SHAME!!!

Comments about Athena Solar-On-Demand Ceramic Bird Bath Fountain:

This fountain is beautiful but the solar only works when the sun is directly overhead. I have lots of birds in my yard and they did not use it at all. Also I left it out for the winter and the color has all flaked off. This is too expensive to be sooo very bad!

Comments about Athena Solar-On-Demand Ceramic Bird Bath Fountain:

Lovely back yard bird bath, a little disappointed with solar fountain, not much oomph, was in the sunniest spot in my yard. Without direct sun did not work and stream was a trickle at best in direct sun. I am in the Northwest however.
i did not think to bring it in over the winter and sometime in January the bowl broke. i had taken the fountain out but did not bring the bowl in.
i really liked it for the color.

        Customer Q & A

        1 Question About This Product
Q: "How much water does this fountain hold? Also, how often does it need to be refilled?"
        A:

It will hold approximately 1 - 1.5 gallons.  Refilling will vary from area to to area there is no answer that applies to all consumers.  It depends upon where it is being used.  If you have it in Arizona, the evaporation rate will be far greater than if you are using it in Ohio for example and the water will need to be refilled more frequently in hotter climates.  In Florida fountains are ususally refilled about once a week and sometimes twice during the hottest times of the year.
