This is a high quality filter that does as advertised. Planets and the moon have much better contrast, even under a lot of light pollution. It is nice to have one main filter for viewing the planets and moon. All that said, while the filter gives enough dimming and contrast to view the moon comfortably, for a full moon, a slightly darker filter is probably more comfortable for long periods of viewing.

This filter does nothing to reduce light pollution/sky glow with my 8" Dob, it may work for a smaller telescope. Owners of larger telescopes should consider UHC/Narrowband and/or Oxygen III line filters. This particular filter does not block sodium street lamps or moon glow for my medium aperature telescope.

This filter does not create any visible optical problems, even when viewing Saturn fairly close to the Moon.

Comments about Baader Planetarium Moon & Skyglow Telescope Filter:

I bought the 1.25" model. It is beautifully made and packaged in a case suitable for field use. Uniformly tinted, free of distortion. Not quite dark enough for Moon, but it definitely increases contrast when there is light pollution, including from said Moon.

Comments about Baader Planetarium Moon & Skyglow Telescope Filter:

In the location I observe from to the south west are city lights. Many of the objects I wish to see are in that part of the sky, I observed M22 and M20 the Trifid neb. for the first time with this filter, that gives this filter 5 stars for me.

Comments about Baader Planetarium Moon & Skyglow Telescope Filter:

It works great in the Astromaster 70 refractor. I bought for night sky viewing, and it is perfect for the light glow in the sky. Really kills the glare. It is like using a whole new telescope. I tryed it in the daytime, and it works great for objects with a lot of glare on them.I really am glad I chose this filter. Works in eveyone of my ep's.

            Service and delivery comments:

I received my order on time. The filter was packaged in a very good plastic case, and was in great condition. I called customer service to let them know my payment was sent. Michael, and everyone else were great help. Thank you Hayneedle.

Comments about Baader Planetarium Moon & Skyglow Telescope Filter:

Upon first inspection, it is very nicely designed and constructed. The glass and coating is flawless and consistent. It fits very nicely into all my 2" EP's. I live in an area with a fair amount of light pollution, and using this filter makes an enormous difference. It tweaks the contrast, so that a lot more is visible in the sky and things 'pop' more. My initial tests were with a nearly full moon, so it was a little too bright in my 8" dob. For that I'll stick to the polarizing filter. This filter is an excellent addition to my setup.

Comments about Baader Planetarium Moon & Skyglow Telescope Filter:

I bought this filer for viewing moon and Jupiter with my 4" APO refractor telescope. It may have increased the contrast of Jupiter a bit. However, it does not cut off moon reflection sufficiently. The moon still looks TOO blight.

                Customer Q & A

                3 Questions About This Product
Q: "Will this filter thread directly onto the T-ring for Canon EOS for prime focus photography?"
A: Hello, Thank you for your email. The filter will thread into an eyepiece - but if you are using a t-ring/t-adapter - you won't be able to use the filter due to the eyepiece having been taken out of the telescope. Best Regards, Denny
Q: "I'm looking to get a light pollution filter but I already have a lunar filter. Will my lunar filter work for light pollution as well?"
A: A lunar filter will not act like a LPR (light pollution reduction filter), A moon filter is designed to dramatically reduce the light coming into the eyepiece - making the moon more comfortable to view and increase contrast and detail.
Q: "We live in the city with a lot of light pollution and a relatively narrow view of the night sky. Which eyepiece filter would you recommend to use with the Nexstar SLT 80?"
A: We suggest the Baader Moon and Skyglow Filter for anyone that lives in light polluted skies.  This is a great filter and can make a great difference in your viewing enjoyment.
