The unit stands 12 inches tall and the base is hollow on the bottom, but sturdy. The actual base is 4.5 inches by 4.5 inches, which is a wide enough base for the unit. Each unit comes with 1 wick and burns a steady bright flame. I wouldn't leave the torch unattended on a windy day, because it could blow over.
