- Easy to assemble
- Thick cushions
- Weight Rated To 300 Pound
- Notched Bar Ineffective
- One Sided Ottoman Cushion
- Ties Not Long Enough
I purchased this recently. It isn't very "exciting" in terms of colour, but I wanted something that was weight rated for larger people (300+) and this one was. It has thicker foam cushions, which was also appealing. I like that this was versatile, being a chaise lounge, or a chair and ottoman, or (when laid flat) a sitting bench. I like the thought of not being "married" to a colour and putting a pop of colour with a pillow and changing that colour each year as my whim dictated.
It IS well made, but falls short in the following ways:
The ties for the cushion your head would lean against does not have long enough ties to reasonable attach to the bars, keeping the wind from blowing it off.
The ottoman cushion cannot be flipped. One said has a large square of rubber-ish roughness which is intended to keep it in place on the ottoman. As I looked outside this morning, I can tell you that it does not keep it in place. The wind has blown it off on to the ground.
It is a bit low to the ground, making it a bit hard on the knees, but I honestly can't tell you if it is lower than "normal" or not.
The last, and most significant disappointment is that the bar with notches that allows you to adjust the angle at which you rest is not able to move on its own or by gravity. When you are sitting down and reach back to pull forward the section your back or head is against, with the intent to reposition yourself up or down, the bar remains at the same angle, (it doesn't swing or move at all) so when you lean back you are at the same angle you were to begin with. You can do this a million times with the same result.
Because the cushions are thick (yippee!) it is difficult to reach around and move the bar with your hands. You must actually get up and step to the side to put the bar/notches for the angle you want to sit.
This hassle with adjusting the position is really a deal breaker. If I had been able to sit in this before I purchased it - I never would have done so. I want to relax on the patio, not get up every time I want to change how I am reclining.
For an item that was pretty pricey, even on sale, I am disappointed. But, a large item like this doesn't get out of the box with so much damage to the box that there is no way to politely ship it back.
My original intent was to buy a second one. Now I am reconciling in my mind about living with "mis-matched" chaise lounges. =-/
