The Berkeley Classic 30 x 42 Inch Martin Universal Foldaway Table offers everything a new or experienced draftsman/artist needs. It features a 42L x 30W-inch working area that is made of solid high-density, non-directional pressed wood covered with a laminate specially designed to ease eye strain. Choose cherry or white top color. The folding base is rated as the best and sturdiest in its class due to the heavier-gauge steel construction, larger footprint, and additional height adjustments. The Berkeley Classic Foldaway Table is adaptable to any project because it adjusts from a low flat position of 29 inches to a high flat position of 53 inches.
About Martin Universal Design, Inc.

The table is fairly heavy duty and I was impressed with the finish on the legs, it looks more durable than I had expected. The preset screw holes to attach the legs looked a little off at first, but if you lay the legs down and spin the brackets you can get the screws to fit into the hole. Two opposite corner of the table had damage from shipping and the screws broke through the little plastic package and were rattling free in the box.
Overall, I like the design and feel this table will meet my needs.

Solid metal construction (good quality); composite top is OK for its class, but specific table I got came with 3 chips on it, including two of them on the face surface. One can see that these chips are not because of transportation, but because of the poor handling before/during packaging. I do not care, originally planned to replace this composite top with the solid wood one, but these defects definitely would spoil any average customer's positive impression about the new purchased item. Sad. (And it is made in [*] not in USA).

As an animator/illustrator I do a lot of drawing. This drafting table provides the ergonomic, height-adjustable surface that I need. The legs telescope individually which can be clumsy at times, but it's perfectly adequate for the price. The foldaway mechanism works nicely for moving the table about the house.

I draft plans for scenery and illustrate childrens' books. I also move a LOT. A drawing surface that is inexpensive, easy to assemble and easy to move is essential to me. This table definitely meets all my criteria, except that once assembled it is difficult to move through a standard door. Once the top is on, it's on for good. I was hoping the whole unit would be able to break down and reassemble easily. The table is very easy to assemble, even if the instructions are horrendously written. The table also works well on my uneven studio floor- the legs adjust individually so I have a level surface to work on.

The basic clean design and compact size was perfect in a small area where we needed to review construction job plans. The independent height adjustability of each leg was a plus since the surface it was placed on was not level.
