    This desk was a pain to put together. First, they deliver it, but inform me they can't bring it inside. So I had to carry 3 heavy boxes inside my house. Then, the directions were horrible. It took 2 people, 5 hours to get it together.

    This desk is quite large, it is the only desk space I need in my room. The construction took a full day, but it holds together very well and I don't forsee it coming apart.

    One thing I couldn't fit in the PRO's is how this desk manages cables. The bottom of the back wall of the hutch actually stops about 1 inch above the desktop, there is a black rubber flap that nails into the bottom of the back wall that you can push cables through. It is a nice, good quality flap.

    The hutch upper cabinets are fairly large as well: they measure ~13 1/2 inches wide, 12 1/8 inches tall, and 11 inches deep.

    The keyboard tray is very sturdy, and has smooth bearings. The locking drawers are equally sturdy, but have smoother bearings.

    Service and delivery comments:

    Well here is how this happened:

    When I ordered this desk, Hayneedle listed my shipping as through FedEx.

    What they didn't tell me was that the order was then handed off to the manufacturer in Canada. That's not inherently a problem, EXCEPT that the manufacturer ONLY ships through YRC Freight. I was not notified of any of this until after my desk had shipped, and I was never even explicitly informed. I recieved my email confirmation of the order, and using that order number I looked up my order on Hayneedle. On my order's page, I was given a tracking number and no reference to who was actually shipping my desk. After that tracking order didn't work with FedEx, I checked again to find that the tracking number was also a hypelink to YRC's website.

    So, in this confusion I contacted Hayneedle support (multiple times), and several of the people I talked to didn't even know who YRC was, and only one was able to figure out why it was transferred to YRC at all.

    This all resulted in YRC not shipping on the same schedule as FedEx, and my 3 day shipping turned into 6 day shipping. I know the shipping is approximate, but none of this is a standard situation at all. I believe Hayneedle would have handled the situation appropriately if I had actually paid for faster shipping based on the rest of their service.

    TO YRC'S CREDIT - I signed up for YRC's auto-emailing and they emailed me literally everything about the delivery, paperwork I didn't know existed. They got the delivery here when they said they would, and the delivery driver was a pretty cool guy. They're a legit freight company.


    I'll give Hayneedle the benefit of the doubt, because they're an A+ company according to the Better Business Bureau since 2002, and I still got my desk... but this situation was a particularly poor first impression.
