Description
Stylish curves and simple elegance are what the Hillsdale Betsy Metal Daybed is all about. Available in a fresh white finish, this daybed is terrific for sunrooms, children's rooms, or guest rooms, and it looks amazing with any number of bedding ensembles. Clearance underneath the bed is 14 to 16 inches, depending on the alignment holes used. The clearance is large enough to store the optional trundle underneath. The recommended weight for either the support system or optional trundle is 200-250 pounds. Some assembly required. Note: Trundle and mattress are both optional and not included with basic set. To include, select in the Value Package field.
A trundle is an extra mattress frame stored beneath a daybed, which slides out to provide additional sleeping space when needed. Daybeds.com's optional trundle packages include a metal, pop-up trundle. They can be left in the lowered position or elevated in the pop-up position to align with the primary daybed mattress. The pop-up feature allows the daybed to transform from a twin-size daybed into a king -size bed.
Optional mattress is the Orthopedic Back Aid Mattress. This quality mattress features a Sta-rite quilted cotton/polyester pad and a patented Aerolife bonded cotton pad made with high-performance fibers that extend the life of the mattress. Rolled inner spring coils take the pressure off your back, while a Damask quilted layer on one side enhances your comfort. Twin size measures 75L x 39W x 7.5H inches. Carries a three-year manufacturer's warranty.

This daybed is sturdy and my 4 year old daughter loved it when I put it together. It wasn't very difficult to put together if you've got enough room to maneuver around it, in order to tighten the link spring screws. The only problem that I found was that during assembly, it referenced some piece that needed to be attached which was not included. The piece attached to the bed to keep the mattress in place. It was strange that this was not included. There were brackets included with the link spring that attached it to the frame, but they do not keep the mattress in place. It was a minor detail, and the bed is still fine, but the mattress can easily be moved off of the bed.
As for the delivery, that was an entirely different story. I received the white metal daybed frame on a Saturday. When I opened the door, the box was sitting on my porch and looked like it had been opened haphazardly by another customer and returned. The box was terribly taped together and parts of the legs of the bed were hanging out of the box. When I opened it, I found that the bed was all scratched up and the feet of the daybed were damaged. Additionally, Fed Ex lost the link spring portion of the bed. All in all, it took three weeks for me to finally receive my product, but when I did, my daughter and I were very pleased.

The daybed itself is great. You need two or three people and a socket wrench to properly assemble it, but that's not a serious problem.
The trundle doesn't easily pop up. Perhaps the joints will loosen up over time.
I was disappointed about the mattresses. They are all-foam. I was expecting something with springs, like when I've ordered daybeds from mattress stores in the past.
My recommendation is to order the bed here, but order the mattresses elsewhere.

This bed is used as a guest bed in a craft/sewing room. The assembly is not as bad as some have indicated -- took about 45 minutes. It does go faster if two people are helping. The bed looks very nice and appears to be durable. The trundle works very well, but will only handle up to an 8" thick mattress.

We purchased the daybed for a guest room. The assembly of the bed was not easy. The bed frame for the top comes in 2 pieces which have to be placed together and held by bars with hardware, very poor design. We had a daybed prior that didn't have the springs, which was much nicer. The bed is of good quality, not top of the line. The price was fair for the quality of the bed.

You're never sure what you're going to get when you buy on-line, but I love this bed! It looks expensive and really great in my guest room. I agree, however, that the link spring was somewhat difficult to put together, but I couldn't be happier with the results.
