Care

It is recommended that you bring this fountain indoors during the winter. If the pump were to freeze, it would break. It is also recommended to change the water at least once a month to keep from any mossy build-up.

I like this birdbath a lot...and so do my backyard birds. I "waste" a good bit of time watching all the activity there...but it's set up just 15 yards from my secluded bathroom window so the time is not truly wasted. (Ahem...)

This handsome birdbath stands under a leafy dogwood with a dripper suspended from a fork in a branch about 4 feet above the bath. It drips into the top "leaf," makes a splash of droplets which the birds like to fly through, and overflows into the main bath area (and lastly waters the tree). Although the center (top) leaf is in the way of really big birds bathing & shaking, the smaller birds have plenty of room and sometimes 2 or 3 will bathe simultaneously. The overhanging branches of the dogwood make both a great cover & nearby retreat from predators.

Although slender, the pedestal for this birdbath is strong & sturdy. The base is just as appealing as the bath bowl because of its scrollwork. I show it off by placing the bath on a slab of limestone.

One important drawback: during assembly, my husband discovered the bowl would not attach to the pedestal without adding a disc of 3/4" plywood which required 2 hours of dickering. (That's why the 2-star rating.) The result was worth the work though.

All in all, this birdbath is just as pretty as it is practical.

Comments about Alpine Bird on a Leaf Bird Bath:

When putting it together it was difficult to line up the plastic correctly an I ended up breaking the top piece off. I set it on the side of the bath and it looks okay. I guess it is what it is made of that bothers me. It looks pretty though.

Very Cute! But parts don't fit perfectly

Comments about Alpine Bird on a Leaf Bird Bath:

I previously had a glass bird bath I really loved. Unfortunately raccoons knocked it over and it shattered. So, I needed something unbreakable. I am using the top part only (without the pedestal), with the stand I had for the previous glass bowl. It looks very cute! And the birds like it, too!! If you look closely and touch it, you can see that it is made of plastic. But, from the distance it looks really cute. I wish they had one like this in metal. But, I searched every where I could not find one this cute (that didn't cost hundreds of dollars).
The only problem is that the top part with the top tier and birds did not fit exactly in the wholes provided. I had to use some glue to make the birds stay in place and make the top tier water tight. That is why I'm giving it 3 stars. Manufacturer should provide some sealant with the product. Glue did the job, and now the top tier can hold the water and everything is in place. So, I'm happy with this purchase!

Comments about Alpine Bird on a Leaf Bird Bath:

The bird bath is very cute, it arrived on time; although it is made out of plastic it does not look plastic at all from far away and among flowers. The assembly is very easy,it only took me a few minutes to put it together. I placed it in the back of my garden and looks very nice. I also filled the supporting plastic tube with pebbles to add weight when we have strong winds. For the actual bath I scattered some pebbles as well for the same reason.

Comments about Alpine Bird on a Leaf Bird Bath:

Not recommended and I don't think I'll be back to this seller. It appears solid but is flimsy, light and parts are poorly machined from plastic molds. Review spoke to a recirculating pump which did not come with the unit/ That was a feature I desired and I had hoped it would weigh considerabyt whereas a good wind knocks this over.

The resin is very lightweight, so "plating" this in the ground is difficult. It looks nice from a distance, but it isn't high quality.

Not a heavy duty item. I filled the middle post up with rocks to weigh it down. Could easily be blown down or away. Looks nice, in place just like in picture. Looks like a more expensive item than it is.
