Comments about 16 Cubic Foot Eco King Recycled Plastic Resin Compost Bin - Black:

I am a longtime composter and this is the first one I have purchased after building and throwing away several versions. I am also in the plastic business. The price is quite reasonable for the size -- the 65-80 gal sizes just won't do for me. I just set it up in the Atlanta area and it fit together very easily. The quality of the molding was quite good. One concern was that there were about a dozen small pieces of plastic that broke off during shipping. The breakage may likely have been due to the cheap packaging and possibly due to the cold weather last week -- polypropylene becomes more brittle at around 15-20 F (without fillers). Most of the plastic pieces were not important for the function of the bin, but there was a little damage to the top that caused it not to be fully secure -- we'll see what happens. It wasn't enough of a concern to send it back. I like the fact that it is mostly made from recycled plastic and it should stand up to the weather. I would be somewhat concerned if I had this bin in the north -- just don't bang on it during the winter. The lid is nice and it should help to keep the critters out. This product is made in Germany and the engineering was good. There are no written instructions, but the pictures are ok for putting it together without tools. There is one picture showing a knife to cut off some of the extra tabs (from molding) on the bottom doors. Most of these had already come off and they can just be pulled off with a little repeated bending. They should be obvious. I hope to update this review after a few months of use. I am somewhat concerned that it won't hold up to the weight of a full bin and may come apart.
