I'm a Builder / Contractor who has used Broan almost exclusively in our new homes and remodels for over 28 years. The model 100HL is very easy to install (if your handy), electrical connections are easily accessible thru a new metal access panel, but wiring should be left to a qualified installer ... heater on this unit requires a separate, dedicated, 20 Amp circuit. Do not try to wire into an existing circuit. VERY IMPORTANT. Instructions re: hanger bars say to "ensure noise-free mount", use screws or pliers to crimp. BETTER (and in addition to screws) use a premium quality duct tape to tape the hangar bars together where they are nailed into the ceiling joists AND tape the hanger bars to the sides of the metal housing as well. Also, use duct tape to tape the DAMPER / DUCT to the metal housing of the unit. The plastic ears on the damper / duct could easily become dislodged as you install the flexible duct OR could be disconnected in the future as you move about your attic. Lastly, the "LIGHT REFLECTOR" is an aluminum housing that holds the grill in place with an "acorn nut". This aluminum housing tends to vibrate and create a lot of noise when the fan is running. Easily corrected by wedging some duct tape between the housing and the grill. I would have rated this 5 stars, if this was addressed by the Broan engineers!

I'm very unhappy with your product. We needed something that could add heat in our bathroom, but the heating element of the original installation burned out in about a week. When I called for the element replacement at Broan, the woman didn't even ask any questions, she conceded to send a replacement element. That element didn't even last a week. The installation took cutting into the ceiling and the patchwork repair after was pretty intense and expensive, so we are using the unit w/o the heater. Very disappointing.

The overall quality is good. Quiet and vents well. Good light and heat. The heating element has failed after 15 months of installation.

Comments about Broan-Nutone 100HL Bathroom Heat / Fan / Light:

Heater element failed in eight months. I contacted Broan by Phone and talked to Chris. He only needed my shipping address, and sent me a complete heating unit with new fan. I am completely satisfied with their response and service.

Great features, but doesn't last

By kdash

Comments about Broan-Nutone 100HL Bathroom Heat / Fan / Light:

This is my second fan of this model, The first one lasted only 6 months until the heat element and the fan pushing the air quit. I replaced the heat element and since the fan wasn't working either, that burned up in one use. Unfortunately, I failed to register the product. There are not many fans of this type to pick from which is why I am doing it again.

Heater failed in less than a year

By METOO

Comments about Broan-Nutone 100HL Bathroom Heat / Fan / Light:

I've got four of these units in my house and I'm not pleased that the heater went out on one when it was turned on for the first time this season. It's only been used for maybe a total of 30 minutes since it was installed. To make matters worse, it looks like the fuse can not be reset or easily replaced. Poor engineering if you ask me. A reset switch or the use of a standard fuse that is easily replaced would make for a much better design. I'm now concerned that the other 3 units I've got will fail soon as well.

Heating element goes out a lot

By JimmyJames7

Comments about Broan-Nutone 100HL Bathroom Heat / Fan / Light:

Heating element went out almost immediately, had to return to store. Then the elemet went out again, but construction is closed up so now I have to tear up the ceiling to get it out and return it again. This is very dissapointing and a lot of re-work. I should have read the other reviews, as I see others have had problems too.

Performs well, but wired wrong.

By rtswans1

from Guilderland, NY, USA

Comments about Broan-Nutone 100HL Bathroom Heat / Fan / Light:

I installed two of these units to replace light/fan units. Installation went as expected - OK, but one of the units was wired incorrectly. The white, black and blue wires were switched which caused the breaker to trip. I diagnosed the problem by doing resistance checks on the leads. Now they both work good. The heater throws out a healthy blast of heat! Another problem is that it takes a 100 watt bulb. However, 100 watt bulbs are no longer manufactured. They have been replaced with the 23 watt CFL bulbs which don't physically fit in the unit. I used a 13 watt CFL bulb which is not as bright as a 100 watt bulb.

Easy install

By KeithB

from Undisclosed

Comments about Broan-Nutone 100HL Bathroom Heat / Fan / Light:

This product was easy to install as I already had wiring in place. The heating element went out after only a few weeks. The customer service folks sent a whole new unit which was also easy to replace. It has been working fine for over a year now. It is pretty quiet while running and heats a fairly large bathroom within a few minutes.

Look somewhere else

By xRichx

Comments about Broan-Nutone 100HL Bathroom Heat / Fan / Light:

I spent almost $200 on this unit and another $175 to have a hole cut in my bathroom ceiling and new sheetrock just to have the heating element burn out after using it for 3 days. I'm assuming the ceiling will have to be cut out again to service the unit if thats the case I'm just going to leave it as is and eat my loss on this unit until the fan or light burn out then go through the expensive process again with a better type unit.
