I give it 5 stars on looks. I've had mine nearly 3 years. The tube that attaches to the light and furnishes the water flow, keeps falling off. Each time I lift the top off to clean he lotus reservoir of leaves and debris from trees, I hold my breath. Once every 3-4 times the plastic tube with the motor falls off. I have used several glues and was admonished by a retailer that I didn't really need a marine glue for such a small job. The marine glue failed as well. I put a stick putty on it the last time, guaranteed to harden and be waterproof. Today I sanded and chipped it off with my Dremel. To keep the pump on the other end, I use a simple clamp band I tighten with a screwdriver. The space above is too small for that. I have repaired the fiberglass around the reservoir with a kit. I've also replaced the reservoir once after too many cracks appeared. The transformer gave out in a year, and I now have 2 extras on hand. A rat chewed through the reservoir and created a hole. The design allows leaves to fall and lodge between the base and the low part of the petals. This forms a funnel that allows the water to trickle out and empty the reservoir. I sat my Buddha on rocks on the reservoir, but I still have the problem. The pump casing needs to be taken apart and the algae removed, but this is standard for underwater pumps. Still, I love this Buddha and so do the humming birds, finches, doves, and squirrels. I pray for some solution that simplifies the maintenance.

Comments about Alpine Buddha Water Fountain:

I loved this Buddha fountain at first when I purchased about three years ago. After a short while I found I had to keep refilling the water. I had it sealed with a sealant product and that solved that problem after figuring it out and lots of changing the water. Then the pump broke. I had great customer service from Hayneedle as to how to contact Alpine to get a new pump, however, I now find out that it comes from China and will not be available, if at all, until August (four months). I am thinking of getting a new fountain altogether.

    Impressive looking, but it leaks

    By Lucky Lou

    from Huntington Beach, CA

Comments about Alpine Buddha Water Fountain:

The statue is impressive looking, but the base leaks. I recommend to the manufacturer that they apply a fiberglass sealant to the inside of the base. It was a manufacturing defect because the box it was delivered in was outstanding.

Also, the color is a lot darker that the advertised photo. I still like it and rewired it so that the LED lights come on without the pump.

Comments about Alpine Buddha Water Fountain:

I had been looking for a fountain for my patio for over a year. Some are too small, others too large...most are too expensive. I have several other buddhas around my garden, so this one seemed a perfect fit. It's a good size, although I may end up raising it on a base. Set up couldn't have been easier! The finish is nicely antiqued and I thought it was better looking than the picture. The water comes out forcefully, but not splashing, from the lotus flower--not sure it needs a light. I wish the light was on a separate control because it seems a waste to have that running all day. I did plug it in to an outdoor timer so it doesn't run all night. It's only been three days, but so far I'm very please with this fountain.
