I had someone help me out in buying this so I was able to get 6 SE bundle instead of the 4 SE. From what I've read and seen, spending the extra $200 to get the 6 inch instead of the 4 was completely worth it. It would be harder to be convinced to spend another $400 to go to the 8 SE at the 6" seems to get the job done considering what you get after the rebate for the 6SE bundle.
Right out of the box and before I even played around with the computer alignment process I was able to get stunning views of Jupiter from each Eyepiece that comes with the kit. A Barlow is a must have for any scope kit, and the one with this pack performs nicely. Once I was able to take the time to read how everything works with the alignment I was able to get the Auto Two Star Alignment to perform flawlessly. I was able to tell the scope to go to Messier 42 (Orion nebula) and on the first try it came up perfectly centered! I live in an area with a a lot of light pollution but I was still able to get some clear views of the nebula quite well. I can't begin to imagine how well this will perform once I get it somewhere with darker skies, and thanks to the relatively light weight of the set-up travelling with it should not be too much of a burden.
Definitely get the 6SE instead of the 4SE and definitely get the bundle package. A an excellent deal for a great scope!

I just bought this. Firstly the 6SE is poorly designed. Simple things like the battery case cover and the telescope control slot does not fit properly and is not closing correctly. Also, the 6" lens cover is not tight and drops all the time. The Skyalign is very weak. Even though it says aligned, it is off quite often and is very sensitive. The interface on the remote control is terrible. Given that we have smartphone technology I have no clue why its still using a tiny LCD display using a pathetic keyboard to scroll through the various menu items. The power tank is great though its a lead acid battery which means that you have to keep it charged often or the whole thing will be useless. All in all, I think that given the state of consumer technology this product is generations behind and has a lot of room for improvement to make the user experience far better.

While it took time to adjust to the features, I have thoroughly enjoyed the sight of Jupiter (and the moons) and Saturn. Our moon is incredible!!! Wonderful crisp, clear images! Love the tracking tool!

I purchasd this bundle a few weeks ago and I have to say that I am more than happy with its performance thus far. Everything was received when they said it would be, except the power tank, which was on backorder, so they sent me a DC power cord, FREE OF CHARGE!
At first glance the Nexstar looks flimsy...until you pick it up. The tube and tripod are both sturdy and well made. The set up took about 2 miutes, leveling the tripod, then the whole assembly.
The SkyAlign is very accurate, but you really need to updat the firmware via your PC or laptop. This will add objects to the viewing list along with make your remote more user friendly. If you have Windows 8, fear not, you can run the program in compatibility mode with Vista or 7.
My first night out, I was able to get some breathtaking views of celestial objects that most scopes of the same size have trouble seeing, such as the Ghost of Jupiter, Horsehead Nebula, and Whirlpool Galaxy. Each time the scope moved to a new object it was dead on. I just kept my 6mm eyepiece in the whole time and didnt need a larger eyepiece to adjust with.
The only drawback to this entire bundle, is that the finder scope that comes with the Nexstar is garbage. Red dot finders are worthless because they tend to "starburst" making them difficult to use. I chose to go with the Telrad. In combination with the Nexstar 6SE, it makes finding objects in the sky easier than ever.
Note: if you plan on doing log exposure photography through this scope, you need to buy a wedge.

I am completely satisfied with the scope that took 2 weeks to ship. The GoTo and tracking work well. I'm a bit disapointed with the eyepiece/filter set as not all the eyepieces can accept the included filters (not a big deal really). The only issue so far is that after paying for expedited shipping, Hayneedle refused to ship for two weeks or so because they were out of stock on the Power Tank.They said that they wanted to ship the order complete. Only after threatening to cancel order did they agree to ship the scope. I have been given three different ship dates. The latest one is still two weeks away. It will be over six weeks at that point from when I placed the order. I hope that it will actually ship by then
