This is a great telescope for both a beginner and professional. The lens are great and it sets up easy. The only flaw I found was the viewfinder. I ordered a new view red dot view finder because I found that the one that it comes with is very sensitive to the touch. The telescope comes with a great set of lens and if you have another telescope as I do then you will find interchanging extremely satisfying.

I recieved this is a gift from my parents for christmas. I was really excited to start using it,but I found that it wasn't as easy as I thought that it would be. When I first started, I couldn't see anything,I really don't know why. Setup was a brease,I set it up probably in about 45 minutes. One thing I really didn't like about it was that the 3-times Barlow Lense that comes with it doesn't work at ALL with the telescope, not even when I used a very low power lense,a 32-mm. Pretty good views of Jupiter, couold see the bands. And pretty decent views of Saturn. I could Even see the Orion Nebula. All in all a good scope.I would recommend it too probably anyone.

Comments about Celestron PowerSeeker 80 EQ Telescope:

Fairly easy to set up. Nice, crisp optics. However, the motorized tracker is useless, and the 3 power Barlow lens does not work at all. Impossible to,focus with any lens.

Comments about Celestron PowerSeeker 80 EQ Telescope:

We purchased item for a fund raiser at our children's elementary school. We originally purchased from another company but after 3 weeks and the item did not ship, we turned to Telescopes.com. We opted for the 2 day delivery and it shipped and was delivered without a hitch. Disaster adverted!!!

We can't comment on the product itself because it was given away as a gift but I have purchased Celestron products in the past and have been happy with all of them.

                Customer Q & A

                7 Questions About This Product
Q: "What is the weight in kgs and in pounds?"
A: The Celestron PowerSeeker 80 EQ weighs 19 pounds, or 8.6 kg.
Q: "Can I buy and fix a motor drive on this telescope? If yes, can I buy motor drive from you?"
                A:

Yes, there is a motor drive sold as an accessory

Q: "How long is the shipping going to take?  How much does it weigh?"
A: Free shipping would take 7 to 10 business days to most locations within the contiguous USA. Shipping weight is 35 pounds, and the scope itself weighs approximately 28 pounds.
Q: "How is the finderscope on this scope?"
A: The Celestron PowerSeeker 80 EQ has a decent little finderscope. It's a good match for the 80mm aperture of the main scope.
Q: "Can this be use to look at land and sky or planets? I'm looking for under $200 telescopes that can be use in both land and sky?"
A: Unfortunately, the Celestron PowerSeeker 80 EQ's equatorial mount is not suited to terrestrial viewing. If you're interested in a "double-duty" scope, your best bet is probably the Celestron AstroMaster 90 AZ Refractor. It has nice, correct-image optics and an altazimuth mount that can be used as easily for viewing land objects as for stars and planets.
Q: "Does the mount & counterweight come with the telescope?"
                A:

Yes.  This telescope comes with everything you see pictured.  It will include everything you need to get started.

Q: "How long is the scope?"
A: The optical tube length is 38in.
