This coop is inexpensive, attractive, assembles in less than one hour, made of quality materials.
It is small; we have 3 hens living in it.
My husband added some hook & eye latches and barrel latches to the doors for added security ( to preempt any activity by raccoons, foxes, weasels).
He also added 1 door to the coop. THe interior does not have a door at the ladder/ramp that leads down to the ground. At night, we send the hens in and latch this door that he built.
ALso, if you buy a standard sized waterer, you will find that it does not fit easily through the bottom screened door. It fits, but not easily.

I have had hens in my city setting for two years, and I needed another coop for two additions to my flock. I ordered the coop on a Tuesday, and it was on my doorstep by Thursday night. Not bad for free shipping. The coop came with minor damage--just a few wood gouges--but was fine. Assembly was easy and quick; however, it took me a lot longer than others because I chose to reinforce the underside with predator-proof hardware cloth. Anyone with chickens knows that predators can burrow underneath and get inside to eat your chickens while you are sleeping. Overall, I found this to be a good "starter coop," with the following important recommendations: 1) it is unequivocally fit for a MAXIMUM of two adult [mid- to large-breed] hens or maybe 3 bantam-sized hens. Put too many hens in a close confinement, and that's when cannibalism occurs. 2) create floor protection with half-inch hardware cloth to keep predators from burrowing underneath. 3) the roof and nesting box offer no air flow, and chickens are susceptible to respiratory problems, so I urge anyone getting this coop to create a roof vent and ALSO to knock out the plexiglass window and replace with half-inch hardware cloth, as well as create a raised, vented roof for the nesting box area. Trust me, the first time one of your hens goes broody and spends 21 days in that little oven of a nesting box, you will know why. 4) secure the nesting box floor panels with screws! They just lay in the bottom, and they are lightweight enough that any predator (dog, raccoon, possum) merely has to bonk their head up under the floor from outside, and, wa-la! They're in. 5) install sliding bolts to secure both doors. The little hearts are cute, but not nearly enough to keep something from getting in. I would not recommend this coop for wide-open outdoor situations, such as a farm or large lot that does NOT have supplemental fencing. I have a fully fenced backyard, solar lights around my coops, and keep my place as neat and tidy as possible to discourage predators, but if you are in an area with large dogs, coyotes, or foxes, they can easily work through the lightweight wood that this coop is made of.

There's better

Comments about Boomer & George Deluxe Chicken Coop:

So I bought the other Boomer & George Chicken Coop and then thought I'd need a second but wanted something different. Without really examining the specs as I did the first time I bought this one. So the weaknesses: Roof doesn't open making cleaning tough. There is no removable pan which also makes cleaning the roost area tough. The pen does not work well with the trailer wheels. There is no door to enclose the roosting area to prevent night-time predators. Ventilation in the roosting area is only via the opening to the chicken run. The latches that close the door is not very secure. Just a wooden blocker screwed in.

In my opinion, go with the other Chicken Coop by Boomer & George. It's 410 cheaper; has a opening roof; removable tray and vented roosting area.

No door to roosting area

Comments about Boomer & George Deluxe Chicken Coop:

So I bought both this coop and the other B&G Nesting Coop for 6 chickens. First off the other coop is much bigger and the top-opening panels make cleaning and arranging so much easier. This coop does not have a door to close off the roosting/nesting area from the caged area. Problem with this is the chickens are less safe and you must be weary of predators digging under the coop and entering the sleeping area.

If it was me I would have bought the other coop twice. It has a removable cleaning pan and a larger roaming area and the top-opening ceiling. For $10 more it's a no-brainer.

      Don't bother!!

Comments about Boomer & George Deluxe Chicken Coop:

I have 4 hens and it was small for them so I had to fence off part of my yard and just leave the door open so they could have room. I have had it now for a year and a half and the past year it has rotted to where I can't even move it cause the roof is about to fall off, the doors won't close, and the part over the roosting nest just rotted and splintered so I can't use it any longer. I paid close to $300 for it back then and for it not to last a year, that was a waste of money. I can make one cheaper that will last longer than this did. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE.

          Incorrectly advertised

Comments about Boomer & George Deluxe Chicken Coop:

I have had this chicken coop now for about 8 months and am very unhappy with it. I have two hickens and it is absolutely not enough room for them. It advertises enough room for 3-4 chickens. This is not the case. Overcrowding would result. Also, the dimensions of the coop are not correct. My coop measures significantly less than what it advertises.

This coop is easy to put together and is absolutely adorable. The video instructions included on this website made the assembly even easier. My two silkie bantams are very happy in there and have lots of room.

Comments about Boomer & George Deluxe Chicken Coop:

i thought I would save some time and money with this purchase, but I am incredibly disappointed in this coop. I will not be buying another one from hay needle. I will spend the time and build my own. I guess if you are city folk and do not know any better, you would be OK with it.... The material is very cheap and poorly essembled and the picture is very deceiving, it is only big enough for 2 grown chickens at the most. I could have built a coop 4 times as big for $260. Do not buy, contact me and I will build you one that is much better for half the price!

I was afraid after the reviews this was going to be flimsy and arrive broken, but it came in perfect shape. My chickens love it and so do I. Nice feature is after poop starts to build up in run you can pick up the coop easly and move it else where.
