The footrest rope connects to the top of the upside-down "v" formation from which the entire chair hangs. The footrest dowel is 19.5 inches. INDOOR HANGING INSTRUCTIONS
- Locate a Ceiling Joist by tapping or using a stud finder. The beam must be a solid straight-grained structural joist, usually found every 16 to 18 inches from each other.
- Vertically drill a 5/16-inch pilot hold in the middle of the joist for the screw to go into.
- We recommend that you rotate the screw eye in all the way to the eye for best support.
- Tie the 2 free ends of the chair ropes onto the large S-hook by using an overhand knot.
- Hang the S-hook onto the screw eye and determine the rope length that suites your ceiling height.
- The assembled chair should hang approximately 12 to 14 inches from the floor, based on your personal preference.
- You may need to make some adjustments to the rope until you find the right sitting height to accommodate your own height.
- Insert the dowels deeply into the boot cups.
- Get a good book or crossword puzzle and get ready to Relax!
INSTRUCTIONS FOR HANGING THE CHAIR OUTDOORS
- Tie a separate loop of rope over the tree limb, and drop it down to a height one can reach from the ground.
- Follow the hanging instructions from the instructions for Hanging the Chair Indoors beginning at Step 3.
- Once the chair is assembled, hook the large S-hook onto the rope loop of the chair.
- Some adjustments may need to be made until you find the perfect height for your desired relaxation.
- You may consider purchasing a Tree Strap & Carabineer Clamp for quick hook-up and release.

To wash, simply scrub with a soft brush using warm, soapy water and hang to dry. Do not put product into washing machine, a tumble dryer, or clean with any harsh chemicals (including bleach).

Grandpa and Grandma love it, and Daddy loved it so much that he asked for one for Father's Day...and got it! It's a great value, very attractive, comfortable, and everyone tries to be the first one to the porch so they get the hammock chair. Wish we had room for several on our back porch.

I installed this product by following the instructions and hung this chair in my basement since it is winter time. After just three days of use the eye bolt that screws into your ceiling snapped in half while I was in the chair! I'm only a 190lbs so the recommended wight rating for these is way off! Needless to say the fall broke my class I was drinking from and I almost landed on my one year old. So I defiantly don't recommend this chair to anyone who can't handle a fall from a swing or to any parents with children who might be around your chair while it is in use. Poor equipment!

This is the third Air Chair we have purchased. It is very comfortable and durable. The design has changed since our last one, not all for the better. The foot rest is narrower, and only a little wider than the arm rests. They should go back to the bigger foot rest. Also, the drink container used to hang from the side dowel;it would be nice to make the strap removeable so we have the option of placement. Our chair arrived without the long adjustable nylon rope to hang, making it impossible to hang it from the porch ceiling. Customer service was very nice when we called but we never did come to the determination that either the chair is shipped to hang on a stand, or they just forgot to enclose the additional rope. We just cut the nylon rope from our other chair we were replacing and rigged it up that way. They said they would check into it further. Now that the chair is hung, summer can start!

In approx. 1996 my husband & I bought an "air chair" at the "Lilac Festival" in Rochester NY & still have it (replaced the wooden cracked dowels)... (I don't know if "hayneedle" is the same company, however I just ordered SEVEN for my family from "hayneedle" ...the grandchildren LOVE to "twirlybird" (our word for spinning them around one way and they twirl back on their own)....over & over again (((;The differnce & improvements are as follows: hollow alum. dowels replaced wooden ones...there is a head rest, and a rivited rain drain in the seat..... We live in a log cabin and have one hanging from a beam inside....I relax and read in it........

I have owned and worn out an Air Chair in my home. It hangs from the timbers in my ceiling of my old house. It is MY chair. I have a chronic back problem and this chair could not be any more comfortable to sit in. To actually wear a chair out after approximately 20 years is an amazing feat. I love it and would recommend it to anyone seeking comfort at home.
