I recently moved into a house with a very small kitchen, and I purchased this item to replace a very makeshift and unsightly cabinet/table solution that the previous owners had constructed.I searched high and low for an attractive island with a deep workspace that would fit in the space allotted and would hold everything that I was already storing in the previous storage unit. I am so happy that I found ekitchenislands.com! This island was the perfect solution! It was fairly easy to built, the construction is solid, the counter space is more than ample and it looks fabulous! The bottom drawers are large and sturdy and the top drawer is so handy. I added a couple of drawer organizers and it's lovely! My only (minor) complaint is that the stainless top endured a couple of small "dings" [...] but I guess that's be expected (to a degree) when ordering furniture online. Regardless, it still looks great!

Wow! Where should I start? For the price of this piece, I would have expected better quality. I suppose the cost is in the exorbitant amount of pieces needed to construct this unit. For another $100 dollars, I could have got real wood, and at least felt comfortable that I got my money's worth.

Some of the legs were split upon arrival. Also, it was difficult to ascertain when something was screwed tightly without damaging the MDF or stripping the holes.

The stainless-steel top was scratched and marred in areas that were not protected by the film.

The white paint finish was shotty on some pieces.

One of the camlocks broke while turning because it was made with very weak metal, tin possibly. The "click" mentioned in the instructions was never heard.

The build was not necessarily difficult, just time-consuming. My wife and I were working at a decent pace and it still took roughly 2.5 hours.

I honestly wish I could have returned it with the initial issues of scratches and cracks, but once everything was removed how should I put it back in the box? It was packed horribly; not to mention, all the foam pieces flying everywhere after emptying the box. Clean up was extensive after the build.

Why some of your reviews were four/five stars is beyond my comprehension. I was leery when I read a few of the negative ones, but they seem to be closer to the reality. Unfortunately.

Are we the few unlucky ones who got poorly constructed product?

Ultimately though, we will not return the product only because it will take another three hours to disassemble and repack, and once completed it could be put to good use. I am sceptical of the longevity of this unit though.

Hayneedle was the only site that sold this particular island, so we did not have much choice. This was my first purchase at Hayneedle, and it was not pleasant.

Comments about Belham Living Concord Kitchen - White:

I love this island. Like others, I did notice a slight chemical smell at first; however, it dissipated within a day or two and it wasn't that bad. I dreaded putting this together but it was so simple. You should definitely consider having a second pair of hands. At the later stages, it would be awkward holding while assembling. Packaging was extremely damaged upon receipt, but it was packed so well that the contents were pristine. My only complaint is that the price was reduced significantly after I placed my order. I would have waited had I known that was about to happen. Absolutely recommended.

I rarely write reviews, but Hayneedle was AWESOME! I placed the order on a Friday and it was at my door in the middle of a snow storm on a Monday. The product itself is nicely made and the instructions are decently easy to follow. The whole unit took me about one hour to assemble with a power screwdriver. I do recommend having another person assist because the top is sturdy and heavy. At one point in the assembly, you have to pick up the top and attach it to another piece. Having another person assist would be ideal. Overall, I have never been more impressed with any online company. Hayneedle rocks!

Comments about Belham Living Concord Kitchen - White:

Overall, this is a very nice rolling island. I read reviews that had issues with the price, but considering the materials used and its size, it's fair. If you were to look for anything comparable with all the pieces made of solid wood, you could spend 2 to 3 times as much.

My cart didn't have any missing or damaged pieces, so I started right away. I used a power drill for assembly, but since there are MDF parts, you really have to set the clutch/torque settings low to avoid stripping the holes for the screws, don't over tighten.

The instructions were not that bad, I've seen worse. Just take your time, and read and compare what you're doing. However, there were two things I found a problem with during assembly. The first one has to do with a wood piece that goes under the top of the counter in the back. This piece holds the thin wood backing behind the top drawer and was labeled "U". The instructions do not list this during the assembly steps. It will use four dowels and the backing will slide out of place without it. Second issue I found was that one of the drawer slides was on backwards. It was preinstalled at the factory on one of the drawers. It was an easy fix, just remove the slides and swap them. The factory holes won't line up, so pre drill a small tap hole and gently tighten the very small screws. Now all the slides wheels on the drawers itself should be facing the back, and the slides wheels attached to the cart should be facing the front.

The cart is beautiful and I welcome the extra counter space and storage it provides. I don't plan on moving it too much, but I rolled it around my kitchen and it didn't feel wobbly at all, very sturdy. I'm very happy with it.

Piece had a few minor scratches but could live with it. Looks gorgeous and has ample storage. HayNeedle customer service was INCREDIBLE. Be aware instructions don't always give enough close up detAils so may need to re-do a few pieces. Took 5-6 hours to assemble by myself. Well worth it--love it. Overall good value for the price. Recommend.

When assembled, it looks exactly like the picture. Assembly was about 45 minutes with clear instructions. However, there are some issues. The bottom drawers have no way of fully closing. The bottom shelf isn't square with the frame so I ended up with a half inch gap. The bottom drawers aren't level either. The pre-drilled holes for the track don't allow for any adjustment. Then there is the paint. My mine actually three different shades of white and it is really thin. In areas you can almost see the wood underneath. I will likely paint mine. It might be worth it at a price point about $100 less.

Comments about Belham Living Concord Kitchen - White:

We recently purchased this kitchen island for our apartment to add storage and counter space without adding an eye sore to our apartment. We ordered it on a Monday and recieved it on the following Thursday. We were pleased with the quick delivery. Upon arrival we opened the box and the stainless steel countertop was the first piece to come out. All four corners has the protective film removed. Thus the corners were all scratched up. After getting over this fact we proceeded to put together the piece of furniture. Half way through the construction we start noticing more damage to the wood pieces that came with it. The legs of the piece looked like they were refurbished as in they had pretty deep dings and scratchs and just painted over. We were already to far into the process to deconstruct the piece and send back. If we had noticed it was in this poor of condition I would have returned it and bought something different. So if you are willing to pay a premium price for a kitchen be ready to be disappointed. The piece is a very attractive piece from afar but for something that you will be using on a daily basis it can be cumbersome on the eyes.

            Wow!

Where should I start? For the price of this piece, I would have expected better quality materials. I suppose the cost is wrapped up in the excessive amount of pieces needed to construct this unit. I probably would not have cared as much if I paid less money because you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, this does not apply to this situation.

I could have got real wood, and at least felt comfortable that I got my money's worth. Admittedly, it may not have been as large as this unit. Once finished it does look nice.

            AND SO THE ADVENTURE BEGINS...

As someone mentioned in a prior review, there is a noticeable smell. I do not attribute this to the smell of the unit, but to the type of plastic (a petroleum-based product) used to make the wheels for the casters. It is not as noticeable now, but this is a minor issue overall.

Some of the legs were split upon arrival. CAREFUL: It was difficult to ascertain when something was screwed tightly without damaging the MDF or stripping the holes.

The stainless-steel top was scratched in the corner that was not protected by the film. Also, there was a marring that appears to be numbers that have created an impression in the steel. I tried to clean it without much luck.

The paint finish was shotty in some areas and exposing bare wood.

One of the camlocks broke while turning because it was made with very low quality metal, tin possibly. The "click" mentioned in the instructions was never heard.

The build was not necessarily difficult, just time-consuming. My wife and I were working at a decent pace and it still took roughly 2.5 hours. If you are not mechanically inclined or familiar with the use of tools, then it may be very difficult. CAREFUL: one person could do this, but two are much better.

I honestly wish I could have returned it with the initial issues of scratches and cracks, but once everything was removed how should I put it back in the box? It was packed so horribly and haphazardly; not to mention, all the foam pieces and debris flying everywhere after emptying the box. Clean up was extensive after the build.

Hayneedle was the only site that sold this particular island, so we did not have much choice. I will have to give some very deep consideration before ever purchasing again from Hayneedle.

Why some of the reviews were four/five stars is beyond my comprehension. I was leery when I read a few of the negative ones, but they seem to be closer to the reality. Unfortunately.

Possibly, some of them are legitimate, but some customers are a little too happy. Are we the few unlucky ones who got a poorly constructed product?

Ultimately though, we will not return the product because it would have taken another three hours to disassemble and repack.

Does it look good once finished? Yes
            Will it be useful? Yes
If this unit were less expensive, would it be an excellent value? Yes

            HQ + LP = GV.
