I ordered this item in expresso finish because it was on clearance. Only the exterior of the bottom section is painted. The handle, top of bottom section, and interior are all unpainted. It's pretty darn ugly because of it. And while I'm talking about surface level issues, this item was not properly sanded and is rough in many parts of the unpainted areas. Overall fit and finish has to be rated poor.
Most of the structure is thick and solid, but it's also two pieces of (allegedly)bamboo glued together to achieve that thickness. The sides of the bottom section, sides of handle, and middle separator on the bottom section are all constructed in this way. If properly glued it should still be durable, and it feels very solid, but this suggests cheapness and affects appearance.
But the least acceptable thing is how the bottom section fits together. There are separations everywhere. On one between exterior wall and bottom you can actually see through to the floor. It's just very shoddily constructed in terms of how all of the pieces fit together.
Overall I just needed something solid to store and carry away quickly, and I got that. It's made thicker in the sides and handle than I would have thought and the movement of the handle is good. But man is this thing ugly and poorly put together. It would be insane to buy this item for aesthetic value, but if that matters to you at all you should really only be considering the natural finish.
