Ordered this fireplace because we love the effect of one but scared to death of the kids getting burns on their hands, which happens more than people care to admit to with their kids. It is also just plug and play and the remote makes it a great high-tech gadget that goes along with the plasma tv that was installed on top of the fireplace. the only draw is that the electric cord that needs to be connected to a wall outlet isn't long enough so unless your outlet is next to the wall, it will show a bit of a cord so people have a clue it is not a real fireplace...
other than that, kudos on design and ease of placement.

I wish it was wider to fill out the fireplace better and that the heat could blow out into the room better, rather than being trapped inside the flute.

My 1888 home originally had coal burning fireplaces with mantles too close to the fireboxes for safely using gas burning logs; these look great behind the original ornate cast iron firebox screens. Put them in place as soon as they arrived; they fit perfectly and add the ambience I wanted for the rooms. We really appreciated the free shipping. Thank you.

I measured but took a chance that it would fit my faux fireplace and was not sure it would look good.
