Comments about Esschert Design Fire Pit with Granite Stand:
After a very long and thorough search, we decided on this fire pit to complement our new pool deck and patio. The picture isn't exactly accurate, as the bowl sits higher than pictured, and the legs actually form an X. It's just a weird angle for a photo, I think. When you look at this fire pit straight on, it reminds one of a Greek oracle's fire bowl -- clean lines, shallow bowl, beauty in simplicity. The bowl of this fire pit is steel, and while it comes in a black finish, the accompanying paperwork advises a coat of radiator paint if you wish to keep it black. Otherwise, one should expect rust.
One word to the wise: that black bowl heats up quickly in the sun. Don't try to dump the ashes if the outside temperature is over eighty degrees! Ouch!
