I bought this house for 3 stray cats who need protection from tropical rains and to keep their food dry. They love it! I raised it up so the cats hide underneath, they use the inside and sit on the roof. It was so easy to assemble. I added a layer of polyurethane for extra protection. To decorate, I put big wooden letters on the front that say "Cats" and added a cat siloette. It is so cute!

I have an eight month old German Shepherd who likes to bite. From day one, this pup started gnawing on the sides, door opening, edges of roof, you name it. Finally, after having the dog house for approx 5 months, the pup took off the entire front wall. It fell to pieces. Prior to this, the dog really didn't go into the house except to chew and I did feel that the wood was flimsy from the day I installed it. It is a good looking house however. Maybe good product for a dog who doesn't have a biting issue, but not for a hyper pup. Need somehting 'chew-proof'. Maybe one of those igloos, even though they are hidious.

Cheaply made

Pros

  • Cheap
  • Easy To Set Up

Cons

  • Flimsy Design

Best Uses

  • Backyard Décor
  • Mild Weather

Purchased this dog house thinking it looks to be a good sturdy house. The side boards and bottom boards are really thin. The top is only held on by 4 screws. The sides are paper thin. It is so light one person can pick it up no problem. It was very easy to assemble that was the only nice thing. Would not recommend this dog house.

Not at all what I expected

      Pros

      • Not For Dogs Over 80 Lbs
      • Thin Wood

      Best Uses

      • None Of The Above

First I can't believe how flimsy it is, as soon as my Golden stepped into the house the floors cracked. There are chips and split pieces of wood throughout the house, screws were loose or missing in the parts of the house that were pre-assembled before it arrived on my door step, one of the legs was broken, places where there were supposed to be pre-drilled holes were not drilled in many areas and this dog house is not as appealing as it looks in the picture. I purchased the "pretty" looking house with the black trim...in fact it isn't pleasing at all. I am so super disappointed, you can't even imagine...it really pays to "listen" to other reviews, which is what I should have done.I had to put 2x2 wood under the floor boards to keep the floor stable because when my dog stepped into this house the floor boards lifted and shifted so much to the extent that my dog wouldn't go into the house until I put the extra wood under the bottom of this dog house...I also purchased the comfortable liner, but it only fits down the middle and not over the entire floor of the house. I will, however, say that the size is great. Had my dog not outgrown his old dog house I would have never bought a new one. This dog house looks nothing like the picture, I think the biggest misconception is the quality of the wood. Don't be deceived...leave it in the box. Trust me, it is not worth the money, I sincerely can't believe it. I can't believe the quality of this product, but it is super simple to assemble.

          Customer Q & A

          5 Questions About This Product
Q: "I have a husky in the Ft. Worth, TX area. Would it be better for me to get the Extreme Outback Log Cabin or the standard Outback Log Cabin?"
A: We would recommend the Extreme Outback Log Cabin for the highest desired comfort.   Both items have numerous similarities such as both being designed of fir wood, both houses assemble in 3 easy steps, and numerous size options are available.
Q: "How do I choose a size for a dog that is about 60 pounds? ?"
A: A medium sized dog house would be recommended as it can hold up to 70 pounds.
Q: "Is this dog house appropriate for 20-30 degree temperatures?"
A: This dog house is only wood, and only 3/4 inch thick. With conditions like that, we suggest getting an insulation kit. The Log Cabin Style Dog House Insulation Kit, item number PPP092, goes with this dog house.
Q: "How big a house do I need for 3 stray cats?"
A: A small should do just fine.  If you wanted a little more room a medium would be more than enough room.
Q: "What is the difference between the Precision Extreme and the Extreme Outback Log Cabin Dog house?"
A: The difference is the the Extreme Outback Log Cabin with Black Trim is bigger than the Precision Extreme Outback Log Cabin Dog House.
