What a joke it is, to pay this amount for a light kit that doesn't even come supplied with a bulb. I could have made this same kit for under $5.00 if I would have truely known exactly what I was getting, prior to purchase. A little bit of wire, on/off switch and 2 CFL sockets to secure the bulb...WOW!! Nothing more, nothing less.

although there was supposed to be directions for the install, none were found. the guts went into a hood from 1993 (!) and all worked according to expectations; just had to figure out the wiring and minute assembly chores. very pleased.

This kit is NOT for a novice user. It is not easy to put together and once we did it was found to be broken. Lots of wasted time and product isn't high quality. Your best bet is to find a hood that's assembled...that is how they used to be!

Purchased this Fixture to go with my specific Tank Hood that came with my new 55 gallon Tank. Fit perfectly. This seems also be a really good deal compared to the cost of others on various other aquarium supply websites.
