These geobins are a good solution for a place to put all that yard waste. Lawnmower grass clippings, weeds*, leaves, small bush clippings, coffee grounds, vegetable leftovers, eggshells…. As others have mentioned they are Approximately 3 feet tall and at maximum width about 4 feet across. The "clip system" of connecting the vinyl/ plastic to itself is easy and the whole thing is light weight. As others have mentioned; the idea of turning the compost is to move the whole "bin" (it has no floor) and pitch fork/ shovel the contents to the new location "next door" to the original placement. Picking up and moving the bin is definitely easier with two people, but you could just open it up and put it back together. The black plastic is not very "attractive" but I think it's better than a pile of black plasic bags. It is simple to overlap the plastic/vinyl (whatever it is) to make the diameter smaller. It would be possible to "stake" ( add your own) the bin in such a way as to make it more of an oval or some other shape that will fit behind some bushes. I like the large opening and find that it is very convienient to be able to just toss stuff onto the top of the pile. I bought two geobins a year ago and they have held up to one year of outdoor unprotected use in New England weather very well. No problems so far; so I am thinking of buying two more. Hayneedle pricing is the lowest I have found. *One Caveat (nothing to do with the geobin product) is to be careful of the weeds that you include, because if you use the very lazy method the pile will not heat up enough to kill the seeds. There are certain invasive weeds that I do not want to ever see again and those have to go in the trash.

Bought as my first compost container. Basically this is just a wrap around piece of plastic to hold the pile. It will do the job but will NOT hold up to raccoons or other wildlife looking for scraps. Needs to be staked to keep it from falling over while the content of the pile is small. Color choice (example green) would be nice to allow this to blend a little more in the yard.

Comments about Geobin Compost Bin:

This product was bigger than I anticipated but that was okay. It was very easy to assemble. I have put it to use and now we wait to how good a job it will do.

      Comments about Geobin Compost Bin:

Perfect for me, but gave it 4 because it obviously will not be perfect for everyone. After researching compost bins, and I already have a wooden one, I searched for one that would be easily manageable by a 72 year old. Some of the ones you turn become hard to turn, and they also seem to lose simplicity by the nature of their design. I needed a portable, movable, large compost bin that does not have breakable moving parts. Also, I am a green nut, so hauling off all those leaves just seems a waste. I did not want to pay a fortune for something that was useless, and with a compost bin it would be awhile before you knew some drawbacks. I put it together, and then realized it needed stability. I made long clamps with wire coat hangers and needle nose pliers to stabilize to ground all around, and then drove tomato stakes inside on two sides. It should hold a mass of leaves. Then I realized location was bad, but it will be easily moved...air holes help air blow through instead of knocking over. It is not near as smart appearing as my wooden one, but hopefully more resilient. I don't have a fortune invested and had speedy delivery.

        Comments about Geobin Compost Bin:

I have been using one of these - not GeoBin but very similar - for a year. I use it to make usable dirt out of an excessive supply of leaves and to make better use of my kitchen scraps. Easy to set up. Easy to move. I move it several times during the composting process just to thoroughly turn the pile. Very simple. Very satisfying. Very useful. I like it so much I added a second GeoBin this year to double my production.

          Comments about Geobin Compost Bin:

This product is easy to set-up, arrived within a few days of ordering, can easily be adjusted. Only thing I wish was different was that more keys were provided to attached the ends to the material. I didn't purchase this with the intention of making the largest bin possible so there is a lot of excess material not being used.
