We have purchased two rain barrels(other is Algreen EcoCasata) and find this to be the better design of the two. Holds a good amount of water. Large planter basin could be used for a fountain. We plugged the overflow holes going out the back of the rain barrel to prevent it from draining on our house wall and foundation and instead drilled a hole in the rain barrel side for a better overflow (see photo). We also drilled drain holes in the planter basin so the plants won't drown during a heavy rain. Our neighbors are all jealous. Improvement would be a hose hanger on the side which we will rig up too. True to color (black). Wanted to show the gutter angles we used for the set-up. Apologize Hayneedle is posting them sideways.

I love the look of the rain barrel compared to the other traditional looks. I purchased mine in early spring 2013 and set it up myself, with some assistance from my husband. I does need a stand which I purchase matching pavers that complements it well. We have had so much rain all spring and summer it has been put to good use! When it is full it kinda bubbles out and looks a little funny, I don't mind as long as it doesn't damage it over time.

-I have had two issues with the barrel.

1. The barrel is not set up with any over flow design. 1/2 hour steady rain fills 55 gallons for me. There are two small holes in the back, so I rigged it with a small hose to drain back down the drain. If it is a hard rain it can't keep up, but I have not had any flooding issues yet.

2. The spigot just started to give me issues. I'm not sure yet if it has a small stone stuck in the spigot or if it went bad. I still need to take it apart once it is drained again. I may call the company and see about them sending me a new spigot.

All in all I really want this rain barrel to work out. Our neighbors have complemented how nice it looks. I hope to purchase two more by next year!

So we have saved water from the rain, yeah. This barrel looks nice. Stored water makes the sides expand and break the seals on the corners. IT NOW LEAKS AFTER 4 Months. Dont BUY. GET a round barrel. My loss is your gain

It hasn't rained yet, so no more to report. It looks and feels like what I expected. My neighbor cast an envious eye at it when I unpacked it.

I could not wait to strip the cardboard packaging from the rain savers and set them in place with the landscape plan of my year old home. No rain yet so I can't comment on utility at this stage but we'll be ready when it does come. The capacity meets the requirement for SoCal WaterSmart rebate program.

Comments about Good Ideas Savannah Rain Saver with Planter:

I ordered two rain barrels and upon arrival one had a manufacturing defect. The seams were not fused together so the barrel would not hold water. It was also banged up with nicks and scratches. Plus, several machine drilled holes were not drilled all the way through. My husband is handy so he made it work. I ordered a replacement for the barrel with open seams. Unfortunately, the replacement had a pinhole leak (husband fixed as well). Let me point out this should not be a negative reflection on Hayneedle. They do not manufacture this product. I believe Good Ideas is the manufacturer. When I called Hayneedle and asked for a replacement they impressed me with their quick response, discounted price and free shipping. Also, Hayneedle did not ask me to go through the hassle of returning the damaged barrel (huge box, little car). With that being said, I would not recommend the rain barrel but would shop with and recommend Hayneedle to my family and friends.

Comments about Good Ideas Savannah Rain Saver with Planter:

I love that it looks nothing like a "rain barrel". The plastic is more thicker then other containers from the big box stores. Also the valve is brass not plastic, and the placement it is high enough for the hose connection. Last the choices in colors is a plus, not to mention free shipping.
My only draw back is the opening for the water is small. You will need to position the gutter spout near perfect

Would be nice if the drain valve and tape would stay in plastic bag that is way to flimsy to hold anything. Had to turn upside down and dig out valve.
