The Great American Mission Red Cedar Glider is crafted from solid Western Red Cedar. A double-dipped oil-stain finish helps to maintain the natural beauty and luster of the wood. Western red cedar is strong, durable, and resistant to rot and decay because it retains much of its natural oils. Though incredibly strong, cedar is lightweight, making it easy to move from the deck to the backyard.

Cedar wood is lightweight and resistant to both cracking and moisture rot. This is a great glider bench -- just what I needed for my front porch. I like the fact that it is fairly light weight so I will be able to carry it down my basement stairs to put it inside for the winter.
The instructions were very hard to follow. The assembly is actually fairly easy once you figure out how to do it, but the poor instructions make it much more complicated than it actually is.

The ad for this product claims the glider will support 500 lbs, but when two people (weighing roughly 400 lbs) first sat on the assembled unit, it creaked from every joint. I think the product is on the lightweight side and will probably last long with little use (as in "cat's favorite napping spot"). For a busy family or frequent entertaining it might give in a lot sooner. I expect to have to replace it in 5 years (and the ad lead me to believe it will last a lifetime).
I dreaded the "assembly instructions" (based on earlier reviews), but found them okay to navigate once I used my common sense and kept the picture of what it was supposed to look like in mind. The stain seems thorough, BUT some pieces are not sanded enough so expect splinters and even smallish chunks to fall off as a result of shipping.
This is a great lightweight use product or a place holder for something better later on. Make sure you get cushions for it if you plan to spend about 30 minutes on it at a time -- the comfort level is significantly improved.

It was cracked when received and cracked in other places when we started to assemble it. It also was not very well finished and we were concerned about splinters. Very unhappy with this purchase and sending it back.

We could not find our dream glider for our porch in town so we ordered online. We were a bit disappointed with the quality - flaws in the wood and not quite 5 ft as advertised. Assembly was a nightmare. We were ready to throw it back in the box and ship it back until we realized that the bolts were not the proper size went to the hardware store to buy the right ones. We treated it with linseed oil right away and it looks 1000x better despite the flaws. I'm glad we got it now but I don't know if I'd recommend.
