Comments about GunVault SpeedVault Biometric:

Overall this is a good way of storing a single handgun in a fairly easy-to-access way. However, I would not call this a "safe". This is more of a way to keep the honest people and small kids out, as the overall case would be fairly easy to breech with a crowbar and the mounting bracket could be easily ripped from the wall with the hardware provided. I would not put this anywhere near the same category as a "safe", but it works well for it's intended purpose as a "out-of-sight" deterant.

Comments about GunVault SpeedVault Biometric:

Would not retain any fingerprints. I called Cannon Safes (the manufacture) and they had me go out and buy a new battery. Didnt help. They told me that they would get back with me to return it for a new unit. After 8 days, i called them back telling them i had not heard from them. They pretended not to know what i was talking about. I had names and dates...didnt matter. They told me they would email me return info. Nothing.

I called again, and was constantly told no one was available to talk to me. Luckly Hayneedle told me to return it to them and they would refund me my money. Hayneedle is a GREAT company. But stay away from cannon safes and or GunVault products. Do a quick internet search anbd youll see why most people hate these safes.

Comments about GunVault SpeedVault Biometric:

Fit and Finish is nice…… 5 stars.
Concept is great…again 5 stars.

I really wanted this speed vault to work because I love the idea of my weapon being secure, but readily available if needed. Unfortunately, it just doesn't work as intended. The finger scanner is inconsistent at best. I scanned my thumb and Index finger in 5 different positions, so I would have every angle covered. Scanner holds over 100 fingerprints in memory, so I figured the more times I have each finger in there, the better. It didn't help. Sometimes I was able to open the door on the first swipe, and five minutes later, 10, 15 or 20 swipes before it would open. Remember, this is in a relaxed situation, and just trying to make this thing work. What if it were the middle of the night, in the dark, and I'm scanning my thumb 15 or 20 times. What if someone where approaching.

Bottom line, it does not work as intended. For now, save your money until the technology improves.

      Comments about GunVault SpeedVault Biometric:

biometrics are a bit 'iffy' hopefully it won't fail at an in-opportune time. Mounting is not all that secure. unit could be torn off of whatever you have it attached to. Overall it's good quality but made from light steel.. should be heavier in my opinion. runs on a nine volt battery that is a little tough to get to. Overall, i'm ok with the product but wish the biometrics had more room for a good swipe.. it's tight. If you get this unit just enroll two fingers about 10 to 15 times each.. that way you will have a greater chance of it recognizing your finger. it holds like 120 enrolled finger prints.
