Assembly

Step 1: Select a spot approximately 16' from a stationary point to suspend your hammock.

Step 2: Using a post-hole digger or shovel: Dig a hole a minimum of 18 inches in diameter
and 24 to 27 inches in depth. Place the [In Ground Tube] into the hole.

Step 3: Place a small mound of gravel in the center bottom of the hole, this is for drainage and to allow for height adjustment at ground level.

Step 4: Mix concrete (according to manufactures specs)
Fill into hole around the in-ground tube. A hole of this size will require approximately 3.5 cubic feet of concrete to fill it.
NOTE: You may want to apply a piece of Duct tape over the end of the painted-pole,
to prevent concrete from getting inside of the pole.

Step 5: Fill hole within 2" of tube top and build a slight brim to prevent water corrosion.

Step 6: Insert above ground pole and check to see if it is level in all directions. Remove pole and allow the concrete to set for 24 to 48 hours. This is crucial!

Step 7: The 2 way cap/plug can be used to cap the pole while in use, or cap the ground pole When the pole is not in use. Pole removes quickly for mowing over!

I bought 2 of these poles since I don't have trees large enough for the hammock. They hold me just fine (185 lbs). I will try 2 people soon (try to stay below about 325), just haven't yet. There were just 2 things that I wasn't totally excited about. It wasn't clear that you needed to use concrete for the poles (you do) and that the poles weren't completely painted on the inside. I was able to match the paint and do that myself (only somewhat though on the taller post).

I didn't have two trees which where 15 feet apart for my hammock. This removable pole was the perfect solution. Cementing the sleave in the ground was easy. Great quality.

              Customer Q & A

              2 Questions About This Product
Q: "Can the hammock post be used with hammocks without a spreader bar?"
A: Unfortunately not - this post is compatible only with spreader bar hammocks. The best hanging options we currently offer for non-spreader bar hammocks would be the adjustable hammock stands - sku USI012 and BY007 or the Hammock Hanging Hardware Kit - USI018 - which can be mounted to decks, ceilings, walls and trees.
Q: "Do you need a tree for the other end, or can a person use two of these posts to hang the hammock?"
A: You can use two of these to hang the hammock, but it is recommended to be used with a tree instead of two posts.
