I bought this to serve as an island in our kitchen for extra counter space and storage. It's a medium mousy brown color (more of a walnut versus an espresso) and does have nice deep droors and cabinets. It's a great height and does serve nicely as a breakfast bar; however, I was dissapointed with the craftsmanship.
The customer service was great. I called to determine when shipping would be and the lady was kind, curteous, and accurate. I received many email updates as to where the island was in shipment. When I received the island, it was well packaged though there were many things wrong with it. The top front corner was broken, the bottom front cross rail was broken in half, one of the faces to the drawers was split, one of the knobs was dented, one of the side panels was broken at the seems and looked as if it was glued back together, one of the back supports for the pull up bar shelf didn't sit flush with the table top so it didn't support it at all and just swung in the air, and the back side of the island was cheap paneling and wasn't even finished in the same color as the rest of the island.
Overall, the style and functionality is great, but the wood is cheap. Throughout the island top, the wood had many cracks and normally when there is a split in wood, it gives it a rustic appearance, but these splits made it look cheap especially because it wasn't the same wood color on the inside of the split, but white as if it was not even real wood. I called to return the island (and receive a refund) and, again, service was excellent. No questions asked- money returned without hesitation, and I wasn't pushed to buy another. Great service, but poor product.
Perhaps my experience was a fluke. Í contempplated exchanging it for another, but I just didn't want to take the risk.

The only complaint I have is that the shipping company contracted for delivery had damaged the boxes. Upon further inspection after they dropped the boxes off in my garage I found a little damage to the 2 drawers. Being a bit handy I fixed them myself and added a bit of stain to match. But overall I like the piece it fits perfectly for what I needed!!!!

I got this island for more space in my kitchen and it works well. The storage is maximized by the design and the slated bottom shelf allows you to display pretty dishes. The only problems I found were the drawers have no guides so when you pull them open they fall downward, and the finish is chipping off right out of the box. Also, there were gaps in some pieces of wood, making the craftsmanship not the greatest...otherwise it is a good piece for the low price. (I ended up just getting a WoodFinish Marker and coloring the chipped parts) I think I will order a glass for the top to preserve the finish as much as possible.

The kitchen island came ahead of schedule. The trucking company was great. There was not one thing the matter with island after uncrating. It looks beautiful in the kitchen. Gives me the extra storage and counter space I was looking for and a place to eat if I don't want to go to the dining room. Very sturdy. The price was very fair. I couldn't have had one built for less.
