It goes nicely with the loft bed and fits underneath. This piece also had a nick out of the wood, and the box had a big hole in it upon delivery. The surface is not flat, so it is hard to write on.

We purchased the whole set (desk/hutch/chair) for our 6 year old daughter for Christmas. She is at the age where it is important for her to start studying school material so this will help her by giving her a private space to do that. She also likes to draw and color. The desk is the perfect size for her and will last as she grows older.

One draw back to the desk is the top writing surface. The desktop is built from three boards and therefore has two grooves that run long ways across the writing surface. In order to write on paper on it you will need to make sure you place something under the paper to ensure your writing utensil doesn't break through the paper when going across one of the grooves.

Service and delivery comments:

My experience with the delivery and service is not great, in fact, is rather bad. When the desk was received it had 2 of the 3 drawers broken. The front face of the drawers were split right down the middle where the drawer handles were attached. The desk came fully assembled which is great but was placed in a box with no packing material. The box itself was weak and easily damaged. In all the desk was unprotected for transport and therefore very susceptible to damage.

Once customer service was called and told about the damaged delivery the best resolution they could provide was a complete desk replacement. Apparently there was no replacement parts available. The desk replacement required an RA/New Order which meant a credit/new charge on my credit card. "New orders" also require an 11 day hold at the supplier before fulfillment and shipment. Customer service said they emailed the supplier to "ask" that they speed up the fulfillment process but nothing was guaranteed. Also, the replacement desk is being shipped Ground even after being asked to expedite it. They refused to expedite the shipment. The original estimated delivery of the replacement is nearly a month after the customer service call.

Once I do get the replacement desk I will need to box up the other desk to go back and worry about getting it picked up by the carrier (FedEx).

All of this turned out to be more hassle than what it was worth. Nice desk made from real wood, but I wouldn't do it again.

They look pretty much like they do on line. The all wood construction actually has cardboard w/ woodgrain laminent on backing and bottom of drawers are very weak. One desk arrived severely damaged and was a Christmas gift, so damage was not discovered until box was opened on Christmas Eve.

Requested product to be left on porch and was left in driveway.

A little disapointing because hutch is not attached to the desk and has no ways of being attached. So the only way to have them together is to attach hutch to the wall above the desk. The back side was also not attached to the hutch
