About Hoover
James Murray Spangler was a department store janitor in Canton, Ohio who liked to tinker with gadgets in his spare time. An asthma sufferer, Spangler believed the carpet sweeper at work was aggravating his condition. Not one to suffer in silence, Spangler took action and began making alterations and additions to the carpet sweeper design until he constructed a prototype all his own. I bought a bagless Bissel 3 months ago and I absolutely hated it! (Although it has great reviews at the websites). I was confident I need another vacuum cleaner and based on the Customer Reporter review, I decided to give this Hoover a try. I need a vacuum with Hepa filter (my husband has allergies), with bag, that could be good in carpet and hardwood floor. So from what I read, this seemed to be a good fit.
I used it today for the first time and I can tell that it really gets a great suction power. I love the attachment tools, the cord is bigger so I can clean all the bedrooms without changing outlets.
The self-propeled feature is nice! You don't realize it's good to have it until you used it for the first time :)

After reading the glowing reviews in Consumer Reports, we bought this vacuum. First of all, you need to assemble the handle and this was nearly impossible since it would not slide into the slot it needs to go into. It was binding and I finally had to pound it in with a deadblow hammer. Secondly, when I tried to put the powered head tool into the storage compartment, two teeny, flimsey tabs broke off and now it cannot be stored on the vacuum with the other tools. Third, if you plan on using it on a stairway, you'll either have to balance it on the steps one at a time (try doing that while using the powered head) or you'll need to buy an extended reach hose. Lastly, when used on a room carpet, my wife said it did a great job and she liked the self propelled feature.

Ease of use with accessories. Cleans thourghly especially at floor edges. Had trouble with faulty hose but customer service resolved the problem immediately.
