Looks good, better than you'd think for the price. Perfect for what we needed.

One tip on assembly, especially if you are putting it together by yourself. When it comes time to add the second end piece to the frame you've already built, it's much easier to guide the wooden dowel pegs into their holes if you put the screws in place first.

I found that getting one step ahead of the directions made the assembly much easier at that point. The directions say to put the wooden pegs in place, then the screws. A much better way is to gently start all of the metal screws first. That guides all of the wooden pegs right into place and into their respective holes at the same time.

If you try to knock the short wooden pegs into their holes without the longer, more secure screws already started, the end piece and it's wooden pegs jump out of the holes where you're not applying pressure. Knock one in, another pops out.

This will make a lot of sense if you try this, as the unit is not sturdy until you reach this point and add the 2nd end piece. The other parts are still wiggling around without anything to steady them. The metal screws keep things oriented as you slowly tighten the screws, moving the 2nd end piece, and all of the wooden pegs, into place.

Comments about Hunter Storage Bench - Walnut:

I only got this together tonight. That was one heck of a project. The bench lacks instructions making the assembly aggravating. After an hour and a half its together but I have a dozen random screws I don't know what they are for. That's the other thing- the screws were all over the box. Makes me wonder if this had been returned before making it too me. The bottom of the bench is flimsy and so I may have to re- force this. I hope after all this it holds up.

The staining is uneven and the finish in some places is gritty not smooth. When I tapped in one of the wooden plugs, the wood split.

Bench is very well built and looks good. I saw some benches for more money that weren't built well. It's well worth the money.

Comments about Hunter Storage Bench - Walnut:

Overall, I'm very satisfied with this bench. It is sturdy and it looks nice. The assembly directions could have been a little more explicit and some of the pieces weren't actually marked with the letters. Still, I managed to get it together by myself (and I'm not a patient woman so I walked away several times during the process) in a few hours and only had to take it apart once. Word of caution to those who purchase this item: The cover arrives assembled for a reason!-- but the screws will need to be replaced with something more sturdy and even though the directions seem to tell you to put the back rest on before you add the seat/cover, you will have to take it back apart if you do. Use the cams and screws to affix the seat/cover before you screw the back in place. I think this was a good bargain all the way around and I'm glad I bought it.

Comments about Hunter Storage Bench - Walnut:

After much effort to get the bolts in to the nuts that fit into the slots, I had to get a drill and make the holes a little deeper so the nuts would be far enough in for the bolts to connect. It took a long time but I did finally get it together. At one time I thought I read the weight limit was 250 lbs but now discovered on the seats it says 180 lbs page 9 of the instructions. The nuts I am referring to above are (8) on the parts sheet
