If there were a “very good rating’, I would give this product such a rating. I hesitated ordering this because of some of the reviews, but I decided to go for it since I could return if it didn’t work. I am a “noviceâ€ in terms of making pasta. But, I enjoy making it and find it something I’d like to do more of. I purchased the Gourmet Pasta Press â€" and I started using it this weekend. I found that my own regular recipe did a good job making the large macaroni and the Rigatoni. Where I ran into problems was trying to make the spaghetti. My recipe seemed to “softâ€ for the spaghetti and they stuck together coming out of the machine. The good thing about this press is that you can just “re-useâ€ the pasta. So, if your pasta doesn’t work out the first time â€" you just add more flour if need be and you can re-insert it. What I had to do was to add Semolina flour to my APF Dough in order for it to be “dryâ€ enough coming out so that it didn’t stick together when I placed it on my drying surface. That took a lot of “trial and errorâ€ - I will be looking to see if there are any YOUTUBES out there on this subject. I have not yet tried things like Spinach Pasta recipes â€" or others, but I am going to want to eventually do that, this may or may not take trial and error on the how dry the dough has to be. I really liked the way that this product worked. I found that it’s a bit tricky trying to “pryâ€ apart the Pasta Plates for cleaning. By the way â€" read the directions before you try to clean them... I found that the Spaghetti Pasta Plate did not separate and I couldn’t get it cleaned the way I could with Large Macaroni & Rigatoni plate. For me, it is something I am still learning to use â€" but my family is a big fan of pasta and I will have a lot of fun learning how to use it. It seems that the spaghetti is just a bit more-fussy than the others (so far) and that trying to disassemble all the plates is a bit tricky for cleaning too. But if you make the spaghetti dough using semolina and APF, it is drier dough, and then the spaghetti doesn’t stick together so much, although it’s more brittle as a result. I choose to freeze my pasta, just to be on the safe side. I am not sure if it’s just me â€" but the pasta comes out really nice. It adds a lot of options to using homemade pasta to your menu planning, it’s fun to use â€" just have to work with it a bit to get all the pasta plates to separate for cleaning after use. I use a wooden skewer to clean out the pasta that gets caught up in the machine after use. It helps to let it dry out a bit before cleaning. If the plates come apart then it’s quite simple to clean them out. I don’t want to try too hard to pry them apart for fear of damaging the plastic parts. So, I do recommend it â€" I don’t give it an “excellentâ€ rating â€" but it is a “Very Goodâ€ rating â€" I think that there could be better instructions on how to take the plates apart for cleaning. This is a product that would be fun to work with kids because it’s like a PlayDough Machine â€" you put the small balls of pasta in and tasty pasta comes out â€" any child would love to do this with a parent or grandparent.

I have been making most of my own pasta for quite a long time with the Kitchenaid pasta set. However, it is limited to long, flat pastas. When I received this attachment I felt like I'd won the lottery. Aside from amusing, very easily, I love homemade pasta and it's fun to make. This attachment appeared to be a virtual amusement park of pasta making. The first time I used it, I made the pasta from the recipe that came with it, and the dough looked and felt, perfect. After making a mountain of pasta, in every size and shape, available to me, I then went for the ultimate test, one shape at a time, flavor. I, very quickly, became aware that it really can't be cooked long enough to even get to a passable al dente, as it remained tough and chewy throughout the cooking process. Hoping against hope that it was the dough recipe, I used my own, tried and true pasta recipe and started, all over again. The results were the same, so consequently, I have never been able to use any of the pasta made from this attachment. The concept of this is fabulous, but worthless, if it doesn't produce edible pasta. I want, so badly, to be able to use it and if there is a solution, I would love to know what it is.

Comments about KitchenAid KGSSA Mixer Attach Pack - White:

This is my first hand blender and have already made cream soups. It is very easy to use, it is quite, and does a great job of creaming the soup. I really like how easy it is to judge how thick the soup is using this hand mixer. This is a great addition to my kitchen.

A Great Tool for making Fresh Pasta

      By MikeF

Comments about KitchenAid KGSSA Mixer Attach Pack - White:

I bought this a couple of months back after looking at it carefully for a while. Probably like everyone that makes fresh pasta I am amazed at the taste of fresh pasta and how really easy it is to make. This press is unique. It is very easy to use. It allows a beginner like me to make a variety of very usable shapes easily. Like most tools it takes a bit to get in to a rhythm, but certainly not hard. It's just a matter of keeping the pasta well dusted when it comes out of the press so that it doesn't stick together. If you get that right everything else is easy. A couple of minutes for fresh pasta to cook and the flavor spoils you. If you are interested in making your own pasta, this versatile tool is well worth having.

      Sadly disappointed

Comments about KitchenAid KGSSA Mixer Attach Pack - White:

I bought the meat grinder attachment recently as a replacement for my old one from 20+ years ago that had finally cracked. I have to say the new one is a great disappointment. It doesn't cut the meat but mushed the meat. I constantly had to stop the grinding, disassemble the grinding attachment and remove meat that could not be forced through the grinding plate. The knife just doesn't do the job. It appears the new model has a knife that is made from stamped metal (which isn't sharp) where the older model was machined and the edges were very sharp. This was a big waste of money!!
