- It's Pretty
- Looks Nice In The Yard
- Instructions Not Accurate
- Not Good For 2 People
Did a lot research prior to selecting & purchasing - even went to the vendor website to read everything they have there. Lots of info re: hammocks and proper way to install. My installation was to be one side a tree, the other side a post I would drop into concrete with an eyehook & chain to connect. I followed vendor's instructions "to a T" - even so far as to write them to let them suggest the proper width (as I had a choice where to place the post). After completing research, we determined we wanted a 2 person hammock and this seemed like the size to accommodate (appeared more spacious then a "banana type"). We purchased this hammock with the spreader bars as it was supposed to be accommodating for 2 persons.
After installing my post and obtaining hanging straps I installed the at the height per the instructions from the vendor. The hammock LOOKS very nice hanging in the yard .... I attempted to lay on it for the first time and immediately the hammock turned and dropped me onto the ground - not the most pleasant experience. Subsequent attempts approached cautiously finally enabled me to lay on the hammock, but not a comfortable experience as you need to constantly monitor your position and keep balanced so as to not get dumped out of the hammock. I would never try to place 2 people in this hammock - too dangerous and not comfortable. This was not the experience I was anticipating when purchasing a hammock. I even reached out to the vendor expressing my dis-satisfaction - they promised to get in touch with me to review, but never did.
Subsequently I have done further research and have found that these type of hammocks (with spreader bars) are very "temperamental" - it is critical to not have them spaced to far apart (my spacing, chosen on the recommendation of the vendor, I now feel in retrospect was incorrect for this hammock - though I cannot change at this point as the post is in concrete). The vendor instruction calls for keeping the line taut - yet this just exacerbates the "less than secure" feeling. Even the picture associated with this listing (to the left of this post as I write) shows a connection very close to the rope connector (unlike what is shown by the vendor) - the farther apart the connection point, the unstable the hammock.
This MIGHT be an "OK" hammock with proper / more thorough instructions and "low expectations". In retrospect I wish I would have purchased the banana type hammock! So much for my dreams of relaxing peacefully swaying in the breeze - instead I have tense time of trying to prevent falling, and sometimes unsuccessful (the bruises attest to that). )-;
