I love this hammock. Second one I have owned. I lie in it and read or snooze and listen to the wind in the treetops in my yard. It is off limits for others-only I get to use it!
The color is great, it is comfortable, durable and soft.I got the cotton as the nylon doesn't give and cradle as well.
I will order this one again should I ever need to replace this one.

I know quite a bit about mayan hammocks, and I have to say, I was very unpleasantly surprised when my hammock arrived today.

The weave is such that the hammock pulls tighter in the center than on the edges, basically dumping you out as you sit. Mayan hammocks have reinforced edges with the intent that they are tighter than the main weave to help the hammock maintain its shape. The shape of this hammock is the complete opposite.

The nylon is not very soft, and has a strong chemical smell which I hope will go away after a few days in the back yard (if I don't take it down by then due to discomfort).

I am not sure about the cotton, but the Nylon material feels very gross, smells bad, and the shape of the hammock is completely wrong (tighter weave in the middle, looser on the edges to dump you out). I was very unpleasantly surprised :(

Comments about Large Hand Woven Mayan Hammock:

I have had a Mayan nylon hammock before and it lasted a very long time- would have lasted longer if I brought it indoors more often. This hammock appears to be the same quality, so it should be fine. The integral metal hanging hooks are appreciated as most hammocks of this sty;e do not have them. The package was well wrapped and was delivered on time. The only reason this did not get 5 stars is that if "feels" more like a medium rather than a large size. Looking forward to my backyard this summer now that I have this hammock!

Beautiful! I bought the ocean stripe - blue and green. It arrived wrapped beautifully, tied with strings and paperwork organized in a neat little folder. Haven't tried it out yet but it looks strong and comfortable. We have another Yucatan hammock and LOVE it.

            Customer Q & A

            4 Questions About This Product
Q: "Do you sell ropes or attachments for attaching your hammock to trees? How durable and long"
A: We have several options - item# - NE003, has a pair of tree straps, each measuring 10 ft. 5 in., 2 "S" hooks for attachment and can support up to 750 lbs.

Item# EC148 is a pair of tree straps, each measuring 65L x 1.5W inches. The tree straps are rated to hold 350 lbs. This item does not include the "S" hooks.

Item# NE007 - is a set of 2 eyelets, spring links and 2 lengths of 6.5 ft. ropes to hang your hammock.

Q: "In our moist climate, what material will be best - cotton or nylon?"
A: Nylon hammocks will stand up better to the outdoor elements.
Q: "Do I buy cotton or nylon?"
A: Hammocks made from cotton are extremely comfortable and soft. Cotton as a material will move and breathe with you. The color of cotton will be a natural, soft color and not a bright white or brilliant hue. If comfort is your driver – cotton is the choice for you. As cotton is a natural material, it will fade over time with the sun’s UV rays and if left out to the elements, will show deterioration and wear sooner than it’s nylon counterpart. Ideally, cotton hammocks are used on a covered porch or area protected from elements. If you plan to keep your hammock inside for sleeping, cotton is the hands down winner.

Hammocks made from nylon provide virtually unsurpassed durability. As a synthetic material, nylon provides the ability to produce beautiful and vibrant color hues. The nylon hammock will stand up to the elements extremely well, retain their color longer than cotton and the weave is incredibly strong. However, nylon does not have the same soft and comfortable feel of cotton and some consider nylon to be a bit stiff in comparison. If you want a low maintenance hammock that will last for years, nylon hammocks will fit the bill nicely.

Q: "I have a hammock stand that is 11 feet 6 inches long. What size hammock should I purchase?"
A: You should go with 8-11ft L as for example the Item# HA057
