This is the first time in a year and a half of therapy Luke has ever cried over a toy. When it was time for his therapist to go he had a melt down. He just kept saying, "Lady Bug, Lady Bug!" I guess they were pretty cool. Each bug came in three parts. They snapped together. They each had a number and an equal number of dots on their back. They were challenging to pull apart. You could stack them up. Good for counting and motor skills. Luke enjoyed thinking out side the box and creating wild mixed up bugs, then he would pull them all apart and match them by color again. His therapist said this was very good. He was challenging himself and thinking for himself. I think I'm going to have to buy him a set of these. They are made by learning resources. I was just visiting their website. Wow, they have a lot of really cool stuff.

I like the idea of this toy and it is a cute design/concept. However, the quality of the paint is bad since it was coming off when it was fresh out of the container. I just hope the paint is not toxic as I'm sure it will continue to come off with use. The eyes were painted on poorly and there is excess paint on the snout and side of the head. One of the pieces has something broken inside so it shakes like a rattle. I just hope that the rubber does not come off so that piece won't fall out and my 2 year old swallow it.

I have another product by this company and the paint job on it looks terrible as well. They may need better quality control.

I agree with the review which mentioned it would have been better with 26 whole alligators instead of 13 with the other half of the alphabets printed on the other side.

Comments about Learning Resources Snap-n-Learn Counting Elephants:

My grandaughter was learning colors and shapes when she received this as a gift for her 2nd birthday. I thought it would be a great teaching tool, but she became very upset when the cutout on the purple wings did not match either the purple body or the contrasting color on the purple head (orange) she kept saying "No! No! Grandma that's wrong, it doesnt match!" she got so mad she cried and refused to play with it any more. when children learn colors and shapes they are typically learning matching as well. it does not make sense (to anyone with a logical brain) to have purple wings go with a red body and not have a red head with purple antennae or vice versa. I dont know why they didnt use complimentary colors together (purple and yellow, blue and orange, red and green) it makes a good decoy toy for the puppy to take and chew on so she leaves the toys we care about alone.

I like the product itself - including the material it is made out of. However, it is terrible trying to get all of the parts back in the container. I try to teach my kids to put THEIR OWN TOYS AWAY but that is difficult to do when it takes ME three times to get them all to fit so the lid can go on.

Comments about Learning Resources Snap-n-Learn Counting Elephants:

My children are aged nearly 2, 4 and 6 years and they all love the Alligators and use them in different ways. The nearly 2 year old plays with them as 'just' alligators, he practices pulling them apart and pushing them back together, making up funny coloured versions or matching colours. My 4 year old matches the letters, colours and can recognise the letters from his name. My 6 year old can put them in alphabetical order. We have also made up our own game with the Alligators. Lots of fun to be had. Very well made and easy to store too.
We were sent the Alligators for review purposes.

Comments about Learning Resources Snap-n-Learn Counting Elephants:

Pre-school has been a fun journey so far and my daughter comes up everyday talking about new things and of course a million questions. Her most recent question was the difference in lowercase and uppercase letters. I thought the Snap n Learn® Alphabet Alligatorsnofollow would be perfect to show her and help differentiate. She caught up pretty quick matching and creating all of the alligators. I liked that they were two sided and have a great container to store them in when not in use. Learning Resources is our go to learning toy line and we enjoy sharing their products with our readers. They have helped our daughter work on so many different learning tasks and overcome many obstacles from colors, letters, shapes and more. Their products are creative, effective and fun. A toddler wants to have fun and when they are having fun they are learning and taking in everything. Learning Resources allows for just that and i am pleased to recommend adding them to your holiday shopping list for the little learners in your life!

Comments about Learning Resources Snap-n-Learn Counting Elephants:

Adorable and easy to snap together, but packaging is a little mis-leading. On the packaging it states that there are 26 pieces...which leads one to believe that, since there are 26 letters in the alphabet, there are 26 pairs...which is not the case. There are 26 1/2 pieces, 13 whole alligators. Therefore, each alligator has one set of letters on his right side and a different set of letters on his left side. So, when the kiddos get to the 13th alligator (Mm), they have to backtrack to letter Z. It's confusing and a real disappointment to the little ones when they can't complete a line of alligators to the end of the alphabet. Great concept. Just need 13 more alligators so that all 26 alligators have the same letter on each side.
