Comments about Liberty Furniture Low Country Sand 3 pc. Drop Leaf Table Set with Napoleon Chairs:

The images of this table looked great online but I was still a little hesitant about ordering something I had not seen. I should have followed my instinct.

The chair pieces looked like hard plastic when I took them out of the box. My first instinct was to send them back. But I asked a friend of mine to come over and look at them. She is a faux painter and works on a lot of kitchens. Before I knew it, she had a dry brush, some antiquing, and an old sock. After a few hours on each chair, I really like them. I then sprayed a matte clear coat and put them together, which was fairly easy.

The faux wood seats look a little cheap but I can put a pad on them.

My biggest complaint is the table. I antiqued the base but the veneer top is so poorly constructed (and looks it), there isn't much I can do. It came scratched, dinged and the edges have little nicks around then entire top. It's like wood splintering but you don't want to pull because it will fall apart. I took some really fine sandpaper and did the best I could but with such poor quality, it can't be fixed. I bought some gel stain that I hope is the same color. I can use it to fill in all the notches so at least they are the same color and not so noticeable.

I don't know why the mfrgs. didn't use the same straight edging as the chairs and the same thickness. It would have looked more like a Farm table and added durability.

For the price, I would not recommend this to anyone nor would I buy it again. I saved my old "wood" table and have a strong feeling I will be sanding and restaining it within the year. You can't beat quality.
