Comments about Lodge Logic Reversible Pro Grid/Iron Griddle:

Cast iron is the only way to go with a product like this one. Clean up isn't too hard if this is seasoned correctly.

The product is designed with a number of good ideas. The Area to catch the fat and the hand through handle are a nice design.

        Customer Q & A

        9 Questions About This Product
Q: "i was just wondering if these cast iron griddles can be used on gas stoves?"
A: Yes, cast iron works beautifully on gas stoves. Because of cast iron's inherent characteristics the pan will heat evenly and hold its heat for a long time. You will, however, need to use caution when using the pan as it will be extremely hot. Lodge does make hot handle holders to try to circumvent this issue.
Q: "Is this the same Griddle used on Rachel Rays Food Network Show where she cooked the Sirloin Burgers with Grilled Shrimp on the February 10th, 2005 show and does it work well on electric stove with two different size burners?"
A: I am not familar with the Rachel Ray episode in question. However, I can answer the burner question. The griddle will work just fine on an electric stove top. The cast iron takes a while to heat up, but it heats evenly and holds it heat very nicely. If I were to recommend a material that was best suited to two different size burners it would be cast iron because they are prone to such even heating.
Q: "How much does this griddle weigh?"
A: This griddle's weight is aproximately 14.85 pounds.
Q: "How do you clean the cast iron grill after use?"
A: I have included Lodge's Seasoning and Cleaning instructions that they recommend for proper care of their cast iron products. I think you will find all of this information helpful. Use & Care of your Natural Finish Lodge Cast Iron Cookware Your new cookware will last a lifetime with proper care and seasoning. Seasoning is the process of allowing oil to be absorbed into the iron, which creates a natural non-stick, rustproof finish. It is actually a very simple process. Here's how to do it: 1. Wash new cookware with hot, soapy water and a stiff brush. 2. Rinse and dry completely. 3. Apply a thin coat of melted vegetable shortening (i.e. Crisco) to the entire surface (including lid if applicable), both inside and out. 4. Line the lower oven rack with aluminum foil (To catch any drippings), and preheat oven to 350° F. 5. Place cookware upside down on the upper oven rack, and bake for one hour. 6. Turn oven off and let cookware cool before removing from oven. 7. Store in a cool, dry place. If you have a lid for your utensil, place a folded paper towel between the lid and the utensil to allow air to circulate. 8. NEVER wash in dishwasher. 9. If your utensil develops a metallic smell or taste or shows signs of rust, never fear. Wash with soap and hot water, scour off rust, and reseason. After use: Clean using a stiff brush and hot water only (do not wash in dishwasher). Towel dry immediately and apply a light coating of vegetable oil to cookware while still warm.
        Q: "size of pan?"
        A: Size: 20 x 10-7/16 Inches
Q: "Can this griddle be used on a ceramic/glass top stove?"
A: I have spoken to Lodge on their considerations where using cast iron in conjunction with glass top ranges are concerned. Lodge states that you can certainly use their products on these tpes of ranges as it will not hurt the cast iorn. The main concern Lodge wants to highlight is that cast iron is very heavy and brittle. It could easily scratch or crack your glass/ceramic stove top if you drag it or drop it. The cast iron will also heat very hot, so please be careful when you try to remove it from the stove top.
Q: "Is the pan flat on the bottom? I am wondering whether I could use it on my induction cooktop?"
A: Yes, Lodge cast iron products can be used on induction hobs, but Lodge recommends that you be very careful not to drop or drag the griddle on the stovetop.
Q: "I have the Lodge seasoned pro grid/iron griddle. I have used it several times for breakfast cooking but struggle with eggs sticking to the grill even if I add extra oil any suggestions"
A: I feel your pain. I have experienced the same situation, so I know exactly what you are dealing with. When I have contacted Lodge with this same inquiry they have told me to increase the seasoning layers on my cast iron. The theory is that the more layers of seasoning the more non-stick the pan will become. With increased layers of seasoning my cast iron pans are definately better, but I still struggle some with eggs.
Q: "Can the griddle go in the oven? Up to what temperature do you recommend?"
A: Lodge cast iron cookware can withstand oven temperatures up to 550 degrees Fahrenheit.
