Description
Contemporary urban homes hinge on the kind of lines that make the Metro Platform Bed so cool. Open floor plans call for harder edges to break them up and give the eye a place to rest, and this bed can do both with sleek side panels and a sweeping headboard. Two bold finishes make it even more striking, and optional under-bed drawers make it even more functional.
This modern bed, its side rails and headboard are crafted with mortise-and-tenon joinery and durable MDF and plywood materials. The entire bed is finished with a high-build, five-step finishing process - including two color coats and multiple sealers - to ensure an even, lasting finish. Two finishes are available: Choose deep black espresso or fresh white.
The bed's dramatic convex headboard is offset by a either a crisp open foot rail or a solid panel-design footboard for more privacy at the end of the bed. Two or four optional panel-front storage drawers finished in coordinating shades slip easily underneath the bed to catch seasonal clothing, extra blankets and linens, and other bulky items. Panel footboard is included when you order drawers; bed only options come with open foot rail.
The headboard and the foot rail or footboard connect to the side panels with an innovative hook-and-pin system that allows you to set the frame at two heights. Two metal pins are embedded in the headboard and foot rail or board at two positions, and the side rails are outfitted with hook-shaped hardware that slides into place over the pins. Set the bed high for use with our optional storage drawers or set it low for use with a mattress only.

About Atlantic Furniture
Founded in 1983 as Watercraft, Inc., Atlantic Furniture started as a manufacturer of pine waterbed frames. Since then, the Springfield, Mass.-based company has expanded to Fontana, Calif. The company has moved away from the use of pine and now specializes in imported furniture made of the wood of rubber trees.

Bed is very well made! Looks very high end without the high end price. Had one problem, the hardware for the bed was missing. But called the company and they sent out replacement parts asap!! Great customer service!!!

We ordered this bed for a small apartment because we liked the idea of having additional storage space. The product shipped very quickly, and came in six boxes, three of which were quite heavy (~75 lbs). Unfortunately, five of the boxes arrived damaged. The side rails were roughed up in several spots, the foot board had a broken foot, and three of the four corners of the headboard were smashed. The drawer sets were quite scratched and there was heavy corrosion on every piece of hardware (the chrome was more than half-eaten away on some of the wheels and rails--it must have been stored in a very humid warehouse). In our opinion, FedEx is not to blame. Looking at the way it was packaged, I honestly don't see how anyone could receive this bed in good condition. We're giving up and returning it, it seems like it would take at least five or six exchanges to get one that is even passable in quality. Yes, the packaging is THAT bad, mostly just a thin cardboard box with a thin foam sheet over the wood. The heavy headboard had an extra box within, but NO protection for the corners. There's just no way to expect this to arrive undamaged. More concerning, the construction was not as described. Since ours arrived damaged in many places we could see the type of wood used under the lacquer. Although the info states "eco-friendly rubberwood...Side rails are constructed of MDF or plywood", the smashed parts of the headboard and foot board were clearly fiberboard too. Maybe they used rubberwood somewhere, but don't believe for a minute this is made of quality hardwoods.Yes, I know it's an inexpensive bed, but a queen size with four drawers really isn't that cheap ([$]). For that price, or for any price really, we expect to receive a product as described and in new condition. It's quite a hassle, by the way, to return six heavy boxes--we're still working out who pays for return shipping.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I am so happy with my purchase. This was my first time buying furniture online, so I was a little worried that I wouldn't like the bed, but the worry was unnecessary[...]Assembly was a snap. I'm a 5'3" female and was able to get everything together in just about 45 minutes. The bed really has a sharp look to it and is very close to the ground (my dog is able to step right off of it), but there is still room for storage under the bed. It's black in color with a somewhat satin finish. Overall I'm very pleased with my new bed!
