This pit was purchased solely for night time entertainment on the back deck. Our deck is large with virtually no chance of fire from a spark, so this item was perfect. Usually when you have people over and it gets dark you have to go inside, especially if it gets a little chilly. Lighting is not an option because it attracts bugs. This item lets us hang out as long as we want. Can you say Merlot?

This is a real nice firepit. We really enjoy using it. We've used it just for enjoying the heat in the evening. With the kids we've taken to top off and grilled hotdogs on sticks and marshmallows. Though the design would be better if there was holes in the base with a catch tray/bin for the ashes. It was a bit tricky to put together because the directions were not clear, really just for that parts of the grating and door.

Purchased this just last week, my husband put it together and we both looked at each other and couldn't beleieve it was the same fire pit as the picture. It was a lot smaller and not at all heavy enough to withstand much wind. Sending it back tomorrow.

This fire place looks good and I'm hoping the stainless steel top will help the piece last longer than my last fire pit. It arrived quickly and in good shape. It is everything they claim. The door is a little flimsy...
I am very handy and it still took me 45 min to assemble. No biggie, The instructions sucked. Who needs them anyway? If you do, good luck.
However be careful, the edges of the Stainless Steel parts are thin, knife-like, and extremely sharp. I cut myself during assemble then resorted to sanding the edges with a fine sandpaper to avoid further bleeding. Beware.

Occasional use, don't use when windy or you'll get smoked out! I like the design and look of this but if you have a blazing fire be prepared to tarnish the SS hood. This is our first fire pit, so I'm assuming we have to learn how to use it (ie less newspaper, more kindling, the right amount of wood) - the husband was not a boy scout -
