I received the barrel about a week ago and it had rained a few times so I have a little bit of experience with it. One thing you will want to do is elevate it for two reasons: 1. water pressure, 2. to make hose easier to attach. After the first rain, I had a lot of trouble getting the water out, so I drained it out and put it on a plastic stand I improvised. The pressure still isn't great, but at least I can get the hose on.
Also, the item was about twice as big as I expected. Not really a problem, but I did have to clear out some space and positioning it was a bit of a challenge, so just something to keep in mind.
It does look exactly as pictured. If you use it as a planter, be sure to put some rocks or something in the bottom before you plant anything because water will accumulate as it doesn't drain well.
The picture I attached is before I elevated and planted flowers. You'll have to tilt your head, sorry.

I bought one of these in the spring of 2012 to collect rain water for our vegetable garden. It worked ok at first but the drain lets out the water at barely a trickle. As I filled it with water this spring (2013), the barrel never seemed to fill up. One day I finally turned it over and there was a very large crack on the bottom of the plastic where all the water was leaking out.

I contacted the company (Good Ideas) and sent pictures of the defect near a seam and a copy of my receipt. I was the told that it was out of warranty and that all they could do was offer me a discount on a new one. I believe it was only a month out of warranty. So I want to warn anyone considering the purchase of this unit that the company does not stand behind their product as they are very strict about the 12 month warranty. If they wanted to act in good faith, they would have replaced it. The discount on another unit was worthless as I wouldn't want to throw away good money for a potentially defective product a second time.

Please beware that this may not last more than a year.

Comments about Good Ideas Rain Wizard 65 Gallon Rain Barrel Urn:

The rain barrel is great but did arrive with a broken handle on the faucet, no plumbers tape and a missing drain tube for the flower pot. The box was pretty beat up upon arrival and not taped up too well. Also disappointed to find out that the stands are not available in the color I ordered- oak.

Comments about Good Ideas Rain Wizard 65 Gallon Rain Barrel Urn:

Living in drought-worn California I have had little need for a rain barrel, but I hate the many pitchers and buckets that dot my patio in an effort to save any water possible; thus, the Rain Wizard! It's bigger than I thought, which is okay, and it arrived in about a week -- great! But I'd wanted the terra cotta, which seemed unavailable, and settled for the sage green. When I opened the gigundi box, however, I saw that the barrel is sandstone grey. It's fine, but I should've been asked about the changed prior to the barrel's delivery.

I find the filter screen very small, and in transferring the water from those little jars and pots on my deck, it often overflows, but I'm guessing that's designed to keep out mosquitoes and small debris. Overall I'm happy and ready for El Nino!

This is my second rain barrel purchase and it has two pin holes along the verticle seam. Now I can certainly make repairs but it should not be my fix on a companys poor quality.

Th 65 gallon rain barrel is very sturdy and the medal spout is much better than the plastic ones. The only change that would be nice is having a removable top as an option for filling waterers.

The size is just right for locating in a corner because of the flat back and the top section that foliage can be planted in is a great bonus.

                    Nice overall design.
Sandstone color a bit lighter than pictured.
Be sure you want the FLAT back design--the back is cut flat with not personality at all.
The top does not come off for dipping in a pail--just a square ipening for the rain spout.
Looks good though on front of house!
