I LOVE this composter. [...] It set up in about 1-2 minutes. It is obviously sturdy and well-made; this product is NOT some cheap crapola. I have arthritis in both thumbs, but once I put all my yard compost heap in, my forearm muscle only had to work just a little bit to roll it, it is NOT hard to turn, for ME, and I need the forearm muscle working to keep me agile for raking! The bin handles are close enough together, it is easy to turn even for my stumpy arms. I put in my things, a shot of water and give it two or three turns. No big deal at all! I added things everyday since it arrived.I love the heavy black plastic construction; it keeps the compost warm and moist, absorbing the little sun we get this time of year in Southwestern Arizona. Stays hot, moist and smells like DIRT!I put it next to the garden, but it is very simple to roll off the base and roll it to wherever it needs to go for me to dig out and distribute the compost/rich soil product. That is a plus for me, as I have many places on my 3+ acres that could use a nice amended and nitrogen-rich soil, (with the clay and sand base pervasive in this part of our fair state). The lid is very easy to twirl twice to remove, with the protrusioned handles. The opening is big enough to dump a plastic bag of veggie and fruit tops and skins easily. I put all my vegetable/fruit kitchen waste, coffee grounds, teabags and some brown things too, from the yard, but no weeds with a seed head or diseased plants, of course. I add a little soil from my planting soil bags and a small shot of clean water and twirl it up. I am a big fan of this composter. I am considering getting another one to keep well-amended soil ready for planting in one, and adding new things to the other for the next few weeks of winter-garden topsoil needs. I would recommend this product for anyone, but especially right now for Arizona and Zone 9 -11 winter gardeners like me; now is the time I have lettuce and greens and honestly, there is no store-bought lettuce or greens to rival my home-grown for taste and convenience. I was not compensated in any way for this review; I was looking for a composter and found this one online for a great price! My idea of good customer service is this: I order a quality product and it arrives quickly with NO hassle and IS a quality product. That is my experience with this composter and this company!Thank You!

Upon opening the box there were hundreds, if not thousands, of tiny shards of plastic both inside the box and inside the tumbler itself. Also inside the tumbler were a bunch of loose pieces of metal that looked like rivets, but it didn't appear that the rivets attaching the lid opening to the unit were broken. One of the areas around one of the rivets looked like the plastic was melted badly though. I found out later after turning the 1/2 full tumbler only a few times that compost was coming out in an opening caused on the edge of the sealed lid. See photos!

I know it's not rocket science, but it would have been nice if there some kind of documentation with the tumbler with recommendations on how to compost with it versus a regular compost bin.

Comes exactly as you see it, no tools required no work just but the barrel on top of lower piece and start composting. Wish more things were this easy. It is all contained and can be rolled anywhere in your yard for easy use. Animals can not get into this, so less mess. I just love it!

Quick delivery and super easy assembly. The lid fits tightly and the heat really builds up inside to speed composting. Easy to turn with the handles built into the bin. Nice size. Very satisfied with this purchase.

I like the design of this and am happy to have received it after just a couple of days. I wish it was cheaper, although it seems to be priced according to the going rate for similar compost containers. In my opinion, this shouldn't cost more than $50, but most places charge 3x that much for this or a similar model. Hayneedle's price for this was $115.

Got here in 2 days. As described. Easy set up. I did put stainless steel washers on both sides of the bolts holding the wheels and also lubricated the wheels with JoJoba oil.

So far I am happy with the Wizard Jr. composter. I built a table for the composter and time will tell if all goes as advertised. My first batch for composting was a little heavy but that was due to too much liquid from the house hold material. I have added shredded paper so time will give me more information on what needs to be done with my next composting material.

                Customer Q & A

                6 Questions About This Product
Q: "I live in southern california where houses are close togethor. How odorous is composting?"
                A:

It depends on the type of materials you are composting. I mainly compost greens and browns, avoiding meat and my compost smells very earthy. I have had no complaints from neighbors!

Q: "Does make compost "tea" accessible?"
A: This composter does not but check out our exclusive compost tumbler that does make compost tea, GID028.
Q: "Where is this product produced? Is it made in the USA or is it an import?"
A: No, this product is completely manufactured in Lake City, Pennsylvania.
                Q: "Is this BPA free?"
A: Yes, none of the products sold by Good Ideas contain BPA.
Q: "What is the size of the lid?"
                A:

The opening is 12 inches, and the lid itself is about 14 inches.

Q: "The instructions say nothing about using soil in the composter. I always thought that was essential. Yes or no and how much?"
A: A low-maintenance pile has a combination of brown and green plant matter, plus some moisture to keep the good bacterial humming. Shredded newspaper, wood chips and dry leaves are ideal for the brown elements; kitchen waste and grass clippings are perfect for the green add-ins. Soil is not an essential ingredient.
